Blocksy was the fastest theme in aThemes’ May 2026 comparison of 13 WooCommerce demos. It recorded a 1.340-second mobile Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), a 0.541-second desktop LCP and the smallest mobile page size at 153 KB. Those figures describe a specific, controlled demo configuration—not every store. Your hosting, images, plugins, builder and catalog can change the result.

What “fastest” means in this comparison

aThemes tested 13 popular themes on matching WooCommerce demo stores with the same hosting, WooCommerce version and WebPageTest configuration, measuring mobile and desktop separately. LCP indicates how quickly the main visible content appears; page size and request count show how much the browser must download and process.

In that test, 10 of 13 themes had mobile LCP below two seconds. The results are publisher-reported lab measurements, not a guarantee for a production store.

Mobile results: LCP, page size and requests

Theme Mobile page size Requests Mobile LCP
Blocksy 153 KB 21 1.340 s
Woostify 415 KB 45 1.360 s
Neve 329 KB 30 1.580 s
GeneratePress 307 KB 30 1.600 s
Botiga 280 KB 31 1.670 s
Sydney 285 KB 30 1.710 s
Kadence 256 KB 32 1.760 s
Astra 333 KB 30 1.780 s
Shoptimizer 303 KB 36 1.930 s
Divi 461 KB 35 1.980 s
Storefront 387 KB 38 2.000 s
OceanWP 563 KB 52 2.100 s
Avada 777 KB 28 2.480 s

Blocksy led both mobile LCP and mobile payload. Woostify was close on LCP but transferred substantially more data and made more requests. Avada had the slowest mobile LCP in this table, while OceanWP generated the most requests.

Desktop LCP results

Theme Desktop LCP
Blocksy 0.541 s
Woostify 0.805 s
GeneratePress 0.878 s
Sydney 0.926 s
Neve 0.953 s
Botiga 0.968 s
Storefront 1.216 s
Avada 1.198 s
Divi 1.123 s
Kadence 1.128 s
Astra 1.133 s
Shoptimizer 1.112 s
OceanWP 1.345 s

The desktop figures reinforce Blocksy’s lead in this particular WebPageTest run. Desktop speed should not outweigh mobile evidence for a store whose customers primarily shop on phones.

Which theme fits your store?

Choose Blocksy for the strongest measured speed

Blocksy is the evidence-based performance pick from this comparison: 1.340 seconds mobile LCP, 0.541 seconds desktop LCP and 153 KB mobile page size. Select it when minimizing initial payload is the priority, then verify that its WooCommerce templates and extensions cover your design.

Choose Botiga for a store-first starting point

aThemes identifies Botiga as its fastest dedicated store option. Its tested mobile result was 1.670 seconds LCP, 280 KB and 31 requests. It is the sensible shortlist choice when ready-made shop presentation matters more than winning the lab ranking.

Choose GeneratePress or Neve for a multipurpose site

For a business site that also sells products, aThemes points to GeneratePress or Neve. GeneratePress measured 1.600 seconds mobile LCP and 0.878 seconds desktop LCP; Neve measured 1.580 seconds mobile LCP and 0.953 seconds desktop LCP. Their broader site-building focus can be more useful than a store-only workflow.

Consider other candidates for specific priorities

  • Woostify: second-fastest mobile LCP at 1.360 seconds, but with 415 KB and 45 requests.
  • Kadence: smallest mobile payload after Blocksy at 256 KB, although its LCP was 1.760 seconds.
  • Storefront: official WooCommerce-oriented baseline, with a 2.000-second mobile LCP in this test.
  • Shoptimizer: conversion-focused option that recorded 1.930 seconds mobile LCP.

Why benchmark rankings do not transfer directly to every store

Theme speed is only one layer of the page. Product photography, fonts, analytics, payment and marketing plugins, variation-heavy catalogs, hosting, caching and a visual builder all alter the final page. Adding a builder to a lightweight theme can erase much of its advantage.

Kinsta’s separate WooCommerce test used different hosting, demo content, 12 products, a product-gallery homepage and different metrics. For example, its Astra test reported a 1.1-second GTmetrix fully loaded time and a 79 mobile PageSpeed score. Those measurements cannot be combined with aThemes’ LCP table because the setups and definitions differ.

How to test before switching

  1. Build a staging copy with your actual product count, images, menus, fonts and checkout flow.
  2. Install the exact theme version, child theme, builder and WooCommerce extensions you plan to use.
  3. Run repeated mobile and desktop tests from the same location and network conditions, recording LCP, total transfer size, requests and other Core Web Vitals.
  4. Test category pages, product pages, cart and checkout—not only the homepage.
  5. Compare the complete stack against your current site, then retest after enabling caching, image optimization and any CDN.

Free versus paid plans

Several themes in the comparison offer free editions, while advanced WooCommerce templates, customization controls or premium support may require a paid plan. Prices and included features change, so confirm current entitlements on each vendor’s site before purchase. Evaluate the total cost of the theme, builder, extensions and hosting rather than the theme license alone.

Bottom line for 2026

Use Blocksy as the performance benchmark: it led aThemes’ 2026 demo comparison on mobile LCP, desktop LCP and mobile page size. Pick Botiga when you want a dedicated store-oriented starting point, or GeneratePress and Neve when WooCommerce is one part of a broader site. Treat every ranking as configuration-specific and make the final decision with a staging test of your own store.
