Rotten Tomatoes’ own franchise ranking article dates to April 11, 2017, when the series had reached its eighth installment, so it is historical context rather than a current complete list. JustWatch’s U.S. guide, checked October 3, 2026, counts eleven franchise movies when it includes Hobbs & Shaw.

Where does Hobbs & Shaw rank?
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) is a spin-off, not one of the ten mainline films above. Rotten Tomatoes lists it at 67% from 341 reviews, tying it by percentage with The Fate of the Furious. Include it only when making an all-franchise-films ranking.

The ranking answers which films had the largest share of positive approved critic reviews in this snapshot. It does not predict whether a particular viewer will enjoy a movie: the Tomatometer is a positive-review proportion, not a quality grade or audience poll. The original film and Fast X share 56%; 2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift share 37%, so neither film in a tied pair is rated higher by this measure.
The series’ emphasis changes over time, from street-racing stories toward heists and increasingly large-scale action. Rotten Tomatoes’ 2017 article described Fast Five as a shift toward heist action from the earlier street-racing action-drama approach. That change can help frame what kind of installment to choose, but it does not explain or determine a Tomatometer score.
For one example of the critical response, Rotten Tomatoes’ critics consensus for Fast & Furious 6 says it “builds upon the winning blockbuster formula” with high-octane humor and action. This is the site’s consensus, not a quotation from a named individual critic.
