Fallout 5 pourrait-il quitter les États-Unis ? Bruce Nesmith, ancien concepteur de Fallout 4, a cité Londres et Paris comme des cadres qui pourraient convenir à un jeu Fallout. Mais il s’agissait de ses suggestions personnelles, pas d’une annonce : Bethesda confirme seulement que Fallout 5 est en préproduction et n’a pas révélé son décor.
Pourquoi Londres et Paris sont évoquées pour Fallout 5
Dans un entretien publié par Insider Gaming le 1er octobre 2026, Bruce Nesmith répond à une question hypothétique : où situerait-il Fallout 5 s’il avait carte blanche ? Il avance Londres et Paris comme possibilités hors des États-Unis, puis La Nouvelle-Orléans si le jeu restait en Amérique. Sa réponse complète est : “I think London or Paris could be amazing settings, just as two examples, but if you’re going to stay in America I think New Orleans is a great place to set a Fallout game.”
Nesmith a travaillé sur Fallout 4, a été concepteur principal de Skyrim et a contribué de façon importante à Fallout 3. Il a quitté Bethesda en 2021. Son expérience explique l’intérêt de ses idées, mais ne leur donne pas le statut de décision du studio.

Nesmith dit préférer les lieux ayant une identité visuelle marquée. Outre Londres, Paris et La Nouvelle-Orléans, il mentionne Saint-Louis, Los Angeles et même le Grand Canyon, tout en estimant qu’un cadre urbain se prête particulièrement bien à Fallout. Ce sont ses critères et ses exemples, pas une règle officielle de la franchise.

Londres ou Paris représenteraient un changement géographique important pour la série, traditionnellement associée à une Amérique postapocalyptique. Mais aucun élément publié par Bethesda ne permet d’affirmer que Fallout 5 se déroulera dans l’une de ces villes, ni même qu’il quittera les États-Unis.
Ce que Bethesda a confirmé sur Fallout 5
Dans une note publiée le 17 juillet 2026, Bethesda Game Studios indique que Fallout 5 “remains our long-range destination” et qu’il est “currently in preproduction”. Le studio précise que The Elder Scrolls VI est son principal objectif de développement actuel, avec la majorité de l’équipe affectée à ce jeu.

- Décor : Bethesda n’en a pas annoncé.
- Date de sortie et plateformes : aucune n’est précisée dans cette note.
Le stade de préproduction ne permet pas de déduire une fenêtre de sortie. De même, l’expression « projet à long terme » ne fournit pas de calendrier précis.
Les autres projets Fallout ne révèlent pas le décor du cinquième jeu
Dans la même communication, Bethesda indique travailler sur un nouveau projet Fallout avec Obsidian Entertainment et sur des remasters de Fallout 3 et Fallout: New Vegas, sans annoncer de dates pour ces remasters. Ces projets sont distincts de Fallout 5 : leur existence ne confirme ni le lieu ni le calendrier de ce dernier.

Un article d’Insider Gaming rapporte qu’en 2024 Todd Howard avait déclaré que Fallout ne quitterait pas les États-Unis. Cette déclaration antérieure constitue un élément de contexte, mais elle ne remplace pas une confirmation officielle du décor de Fallout 5 en 2026.

La différence essentielle n’est donc pas entre des lieux « probables » et « improbables », car les sources ne permettent pas d’établir cette probabilité. Il s’agit plutôt de distinguer les idées d’un ancien concepteur de ce que Bethesda a réellement annoncé : à ce jour, le studio n’a pas communiqué de décor.
