Smit Machchhar’s relatives said they were proud of his bravery and grateful for the support he received after the Flydubai flight FZ1073 incident. His father-in-law, Jaysukh Jogi, said Machchhar was being treated for injuries to his head and hands, while his uncle and aunt described relief at seeing him speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on television.

In interviews with ANI published by Hindustan Times on October 3, 2026, relatives described pride in Machchhar and gratitude for the support offered by people and leaders. Jogi said the family felt that the country and leaders, including those from abroad, were standing with them. He said they were proud that Machchhar’s actions had been praised as brave.

What the family said about his injuries and recovery
Jogi said Machchhar was receiving treatment in a military hospital and that the family was satisfied with it. According to Jogi, most of Machchhar’s injuries were to his head and hands, and recovery would take time. Why seeing him on television brought relief
Uncle Kishore Machchhar said the family felt they could breathe again after seeing Smit speak with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on television. Aunt Sonal Machchhar likewise said the family felt relieved. She remembered him as a calm child and said the video showed he was injured, while expressing confidence that he would be all right.

The Hindustan Times report identifies the aircraft as Flydubai flight FZ1073, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. It says the co-pilot attacked Machchhar and that he helped ensure a safe landing; the full sequence has not been independently verified here as an official investigation finding.
