Ethereum fell sharply on October 7, 2026, but the claim that the move left $1.35 billion in ETH long positions at risk of liquidation is not supported by the cited reports. Those reports give different ETH price snapshots and liquidation totals. The similar $1.351 billion figure refers to completed liquidations across the crypto market in a separate July event—not Ethereum longs at risk in October.

How far did Ethereum fall?

October 7 reports describe a notable decline, but they captured different market snapshots. PrimeXBT reported ETH down 5.67% to $2,555, while BeInCrypto reported a Binance intraday low of $2,591.71 and a price of $2,617.76 at publication, down 2.90% over 24 hours. These are time- and source-specific figures, not a single agreed daily close.

How much ETH was liquidated?

The October reports also differ in their liquidation figures and measurement windows. Each attributes data to CoinGlass, but the underlying CoinGlass dataset is not directly provided in the cited reporting.

Report Reported liquidation figure Scope and window
PrimeXBT, October 7, 2026 $201 million in ETH liquidations; $665 million across crypto The report describes these as figures for that day and attributes them to CoinGlass; it does not specify a 24-hour window in the cited account.
BeInCrypto, October 7, 2026 $164.88 million in ETH long liquidations and $10.22 million in ETH short liquidations ETH figures over 24 hours, attributed to CoinGlass.
CryptoCompass, October 7, 2026 $400 million in crypto long positions A relayed Watcher.Guru claim for a 20-minute window around the ETH move. CryptoCompass said it could not independently verify the amount through CoinGlass.

These numbers should not be combined into one total: the reports use different windows, and the figures vary between ETH-only and crypto-wide scope. They also do not all distinguish long from short liquidations.

Does $1.35 billion in ETH longs face liquidation?

The cited reporting does not establish that claim. TokenPost reported on July 13, 2026, that roughly $1.351 billion in leveraged positions had already been liquidated across crypto markets during the preceding 24 hours, including about $1.073 billion in long liquidations. That was a completed, market-wide total from a different event. It is not an estimate of October ETH positions at risk.

What “at risk of liquidation” means

An at-risk estimate models positions that might be forcibly closed if prices reach specified thresholds. It does not mean those positions have already been liquidated or that the modeled amount will be lost. A realized liquidation figure, by contrast, counts positions that were actually closed.

What ETF outflows do—and do not—show

Both October 7 reports cited US spot ETH ETF outflows on October 6: BeInCrypto reported $201.9 million, attributing the figure to SoSoValue, while PrimeXBT reported $201 million. The outflows coincided with the market weakness, but the cited reports do not establish that they caused the price decline.

How to read the October figures

  • Check the timestamp and window: an intraday price, a 24-hour change, and a report’s “that day” liquidation total may cover different periods.
  • Check the scope: ETH-only figures are not interchangeable with totals for the broader crypto market.
  • Check which side is counted: long liquidations, short liquidations, and all-side totals describe different measures.
  • Separate estimates from records: modeled liquidation exposure is not the same as positions already closed.
