Choose Eternal Blade if you want to follow a new manga-linked fantasy world and are willing to wait for a forthcoming game; choose an established alternative such as Code Vein or Scarlet Nexus if you want an available anime-styled action RPG to play now. Eternal Blade is pitched as a single-player open-world action RPG with timing-focused combat, but Steam still lists it as “Coming soon.” Check its live listing before planning to play its demo.
What is Eternal Blade?
Eternal Blade is a forthcoming game from Shibui Labs LLC, set in the Baransu Realm. The developer presents it as part of the broader Shibui Universe and says the game is being developed alongside a manga and an anime screenplay. That shared-world approach may appeal if you want to explore an original setting across formats, but it does not establish that its story is better than those of existing games. The official Eternal Blade site introduces the property, while its Steam listing describes the game as an open-world action RPG.
How does Eternal Blade’s combat compare?
Shibui Labs describes a combat loop built around striking, defending, reading an enemy, and landing a perfect parry to build power. Its Steam product copy says, “Every fight is a rhythm. Strike, defend, read the enemy, and when you land the perfect parry, the Almighty Power builds.” That is the developer’s advertised design, not a hands-on assessment of how the combat feels or how difficult it is.

For a comparison point, Bandai Namco positions Code Vein within demanding action-RPG design and dark anime aesthetics. That makes it a reasonable alternative to investigate if you want a more established game in that style. It should not be treated as mechanically identical to Eternal Blade: compare each game’s actual combat systems and challenge rather than assuming the shared anime influence means they play alike. Bandai Namco’s official JRPG catalogue provides context for Code Vein and other titles.

How do the worlds and activities differ?
Eternal Blade is advertised as an open world with regions to explore. Its Steam demo description outlines four regions and lists stealth, crafting, cooking, fishing, hunting, and mining alongside the main quest. The listing estimates 1–2 hours for the demo’s main quest plus side activities; this is the developer’s stated plan, not an independently measured playtime.
That breadth of planned activities may be a draw if you want exploration beyond combat. For an alternative, check its own structure and activity loop: anime-styled action RPGs do not all offer the same kind of open-world exploration. Neither the planned demo scope nor the open-world label alone shows how substantial or enjoyable those activities are.

Which games are practical alternatives to play now?
Scarlet Nexus is categorized on Steam as an anime action RPG and single-player game, making it a useful alternative to investigate if you want that broad style in an established title. Tales of Arise is another game in Bandai Namco’s official JRPG catalogue. These are options to compare, not a quality ranking or a claim that their combat, worlds, or stories match Eternal Blade.
| Game | What the sources establish | Best reason to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Eternal Blade | Forthcoming single-player open-world action RPG; Steam says “Coming soon.” | You want to follow a new manga-linked fantasy setting and are comfortable checking back for access. |
| Code Vein | Bandai Namco presents it in the context of demanding action-RPG design and dark anime aesthetics. | You want to investigate an established, darker anime-styled action-RPG option. |
| Scarlet Nexus | Steam categorizes it as an anime action RPG and single-player game. | You want an established single-player anime action RPG to consider now. |
| Tales of Arise | Listed in Bandai Namco’s official JRPG catalogue. | You are open to another established JRPG option; the cited source does not establish a direct mechanical comparison. |
Is Eternal Blade available, and what PC does it require?
Steam currently labels Eternal Blade “Coming soon” and says it is not yet available. The developer site announced a demo launch date of October 2, 2026, and Steam describes a free demo for that date; the site also announces a Steam Next Fest appearance from October 19–26, 2026. Because the store page still gives a “Coming soon” status, treat those dates as announcements rather than proof that the demo is currently downloadable. Check the live Steam product page for current access.
