The espresso Display 15 Touch—currently listed by espresso Displays as “espresso Touch”—is a thin, portable 15.6-inch touchscreen built for laptop users who want a second screen on the move. Its strengths are portability, sharp text and touch input on supported hosts; its limits include a 60 Hz, 1080p panel, modest brightness, reflections and host-specific touch requirements. It makes the most sense for everyday productivity and presentations, not HDR viewing or fast-motion gaming.
What the espresso Display 15 Touch offers
The current US product page specifies a 15.6-inch, 16:9 LCD with 1920×1080 resolution, a 60 Hz refresh rate and 300 nits of brightness. It lists a 10–20 ms response-time specification, factory color calibration, 16.8 million colors, built-in speakers, two USB-C ports and power passthrough. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The screen is a portable productivity display, not a high-refresh or HDR monitor. The manufacturer says the display can draw power from a connected host or an outlet, and that a single USB-C cable works in most cases. Some devices may require extra power or an adapter. The US product page lists a touchscreen display, a 3-foot USB-C-to-USB-C cable, a Stand+ and a microfiber cleaning cloth. It also lists a two-year warranty and 30-day returns for its own storefront; retailer bundles and regional terms may differ. Price and availability can change, so check the live listing before buying.
How it performs for work and travel
RTINGS describes the display as suitable for basic office work, with sharp text and a portable design. Those traits make it useful for documents, browser tabs, email, presentations and showing work while traveling. RTINGS also identifies practical drawbacks: strong light sources can create distracting reflections, the image is less consistent when viewed from the sides, and motion handling is poor. It reports no variable refresh rate (VRR) or HDR, and limited Adobe RGB coverage for wider-gamut creative work. These are RTINGS’ findings, not first-hand testing for this article. For a desk or hotel room, plan around the lighting and viewing angle: a bright window or lamp reflecting off the screen can be distracting, and the image may not look as consistent to someone viewing from beside you. The 60 Hz ceiling and poor motion handling also make this a weak fit for fast-paced games. Creative users who depend on a wide color gamut should consider a monitor designed for that work rather than assuming factory calibration guarantees broad gamut coverage.
Does the espresso Display 15 Touch work with my MacBook or Windows laptop?
Usually, if the laptop’s USB-C port supports video output. The connector’s shape alone is not enough: a USB-C port limited to data or charging cannot send a display signal. Check the laptop maker’s specifications for DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt video support before buying.

Mac
According to espresso Displays’ compatibility guidance, Macs made after 2017 connect over the included USB-C cable when the connection supports video. Touchscreen use on Mac requires the manufacturer’s espresso Flow software. Older Macs may require a Mini DisplayPort adapter, and the guide says touch is not available in that legacy configuration.

Windows
Most Windows laptops with USB-C are compatible when the port supports Thunderbolt or DisplayPort Alt Mode. The compatibility guide lists touchscreen support for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Check both the laptop’s video-output capability and the manufacturer’s guidance for your specific device before relying on touch.

espresso Displays’ FAQ asks, “Does Touch work on Mac and Windows?” and answers, “Sure does! Make sure to download espressoFlow to enable the best touch screen experience on your Mac or Windows device.” That is the manufacturer’s statement; the compatibility details above show why host and connection requirements still matter.
Can I use it with my phone, tablet or Steam Deck?
Compatibility depends on the device and connection, and mirroring does not mean the touchscreen will control the connected device. The manufacturer’s compatibility guide describes these limitations:

- Samsung DeX devices: USB-C compatibility is listed, but additional power may be needed to reach maximum brightness. Android mirroring does not support touch input on the external display or auto-rotation.
- iPad: iPadOS mirroring or extension works, but touch actions must be made on the iPad itself or with a Bluetooth mouse.
- Compatible iPhone models: Mirroring is supported, but touch and rotation on the external display are not. Reduced brightness or an extra power pack may be needed.
- Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch: The guide says these can connect by USB-C, but consoles do not get touchscreen input or auto-rotation.
- PlayStation and Xbox: Connection requires a separately sold HDMI adapter; do not assume the included USB-C cable is sufficient.

Stand, portability and model-version caveats
The flexible magnetic stand is part of the product’s appeal, but verify the stand included with the particular unit you are considering. RTINGS tested Version 2 and notes that the stand available now differs from the one on its tested unit; it also warns that some retailers sell bundles without a detachable stand. The manufacturer’s current US page lists a Stand+, but a retailer’s contents may differ.

RTINGS first published its review on March 14, 2023, and its changelog records an update on September 18, 2026. That version history matters: the test findings should not be treated as measurements of every stand generation or retail bundle. RTINGS’ comparisons are also limited rather than a current market-wide ranking. It says the ASUS ProArt PA148CTV handles reflections better and offers creator tools, while the espresso has a more flexible stand; in that comparison, RTINGS describes the espresso as wider-gamut. For gaming, RTINGS favors the ASUS ROG Strix XG16AHPE for higher refresh, VRR, brightness and reflection handling. Check current specifications and prices before comparing models.
What to check before buying
- Confirm video over USB-C. Look up your laptop’s exact port specifications and verify DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt video output. Do not infer display support from the USB-C connector alone.
- Check touch support for your host. Mac touch requires espresso Flow; Windows touch is listed for Windows 10 and 11. Phone, tablet and console connections have the input limitations described above.
- Verify power and connection needs. Most compatible USB-C laptops may use a single cable, but particular devices can require more power, a power pack or an adapter. Consoles with HDMI need a separately sold adapter.
- Confirm the exact bundle and terms. Check whether the listing includes the stand, cable and any adapters you need, and review the applicable regional warranty and return policy.
- Match the screen to your environment and work. Consider glare, viewing angle, brightness, color-gamut needs and motion performance. A 60 Hz, non-HDR screen is not a substitute for a gaming or bright-room specialist monitor.
Verdict
The espresso Display 15 Touch is a useful portable second screen if you value a thin touchscreen and your laptop supports video over USB-C. Its sharp text and travel-friendly format suit everyday work, but its 300-nit specification, reflections, off-axis inconsistency and weak motion handling constrain where and how it performs best. Buy it for portability and compatible touch workflows—not for HDR, high-refresh gaming or color-critical wide-gamut work—and verify your device, stand bundle and current terms first.
