The espresso Display 15 is a well-finished 15.6-inch portable monitor for people who value a tidy, polished desk setup. In Ed Hardy’s January 2025 Cult of Mac review, its Full HD screen worked well for everyday tasks, and the included magnetic Stand+ made positioning it straightforward. The trade-offs are a relatively broad footprint, USB-C-only video connections, and the possibility of draining power from the connected device. Hardy disclosed that espresso supplied the review unit; his image-quality and battery observations are his own, not independent lab results.
What the espresso Display 15 offers
The Display 15 combines a 15.6-inch, 16:9 Full HD panel with an aluminum-and-glass exterior. Its slim profile and refined finish are central to the appeal, but the lower bezel, ports, and stand arrangement mean the complete device is not as compact as its thickness alone suggests.
| Specification | Value reported by Cult of Mac (January 2025) |
|---|---|
| Panel size | 15.6 inches diagonally |
| Resolution and aspect ratio | 1920 × 1080; 16:9 |
| Refresh rate | 60 Hz |
| Color and calibration | 16.8 million colors; factory color calibrated |
| Brightness | 300 nits |
| Weight and thickness | 2 pounds; 0.2 inches |
| Overall footprint | 14.1 × 10.1 inches |
| Video connections | Two USB-C ports; no built-in HDMI |
How it looks in everyday use
Hardy said the screen looked good for writing, browsing, spreadsheets, and video. That is a reviewer’s assessment rather than a measured comparison with other panels. The stated 300-nit brightness can be useful in many indoor environments; Hardy found it usable outdoors in shade, but not in full sun.

The 1080p resolution is a practical match for general productivity and viewing on a portable screen. Readers who need a higher-resolution workspace or touch input should investigate an appropriate Pro model, but the review’s mention of a newly announced 15 Pro was time-specific to January 2025 and does not establish the current lineup.
#1 Best Overall

- VIVID DISPLAY: 1080p Full HD display, 400 nits, 100% sRGB, 1000:1 contrast: Clear, colour-accurate screen ideal for productivity, web, video calls, and everyday work. Note: this is a 1080p display
- LIGHTWEIGHT AT 1.68LBS - Slim, travel-ready design with 6H hardened glass and a durable uniform bezel. Slips easily into a backpack or carry-on, built for daily movement without compromise.
- DEVICE COMPATIBILITY - Works with MacBooks, iPads, Windows laptops, Chromebooks, and mobile devices: Plug-and-play via USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode) with laptops, tablets, and compatible smartphones. Full extended display on macOS and Windows. On iPad, extended display requires iPad Pro M1 or later (iPadOS 16+); mirror mode works on all iPads
Portability: thin, but not tiny
At 0.2 inches thick and 2 pounds, the screen is easy to carry compared with many desk monitors. Its 14.1 × 10.1-inch footprint tells a more useful story for packing: the broad lower chin increases the overall dimensions, and Hardy noted that it is wider than a 16-inch MacBook. A small laptop sleeve may not fit it, so check the bag’s internal dimensions rather than relying on the display’s nominal size.
The aluminum-and-glass construction gives the product a more finished look than a basic plastic portable display. Hardy summed up that impression by writing, “The espresso Display 15 stands out from the competition in a couple of ways. One of them is design — it’s far more professional looking than portable monitors from rival companies that I’ve tried.” That is his subjective comparison based on the products he had tried.

Stand+: the included mounting option
The review describes the magnetic Stand+ as included with the Display 15. It lets the screen sit beside or above a laptop and supports portrait or landscape orientation. Depending on the configuration, the bottom of the display sits roughly 4 or 9.75 inches above the desk. Hardy found its magnetic attachment convenient for setup and rotation.

USB-C connection and power considerations
The Display 15 has two USB-C ports and no built-in HDMI. The review describes connecting it to Macs, iPads, and recent iPhone models over USB-C. Device support can depend on the specific model and its video-output capability, so confirm compatibility for your computer, tablet, or phone before purchase.
The monitor can draw power from the connected device or use a separate USB-C wall charger. When the host device supplies power, its battery life may fall. Hardy reported that his 13-inch iPad lost 40% of its charge over an hour while powering the monitor. This is one observation from his particular setup, not a general battery-life estimate or a controlled test. The review does not state a required charger wattage.

It is a good fit to consider if you want a polished-looking portable screen for everyday work, presentations, or a second display alongside a Mac or iPad, and you are comfortable with 1080p, USB-C video, and a 2-pound device. The included Stand+ and slim build are the strongest practical attractions described in the review.

Look elsewhere if you need built-in HDMI, a smaller overall footprint, touch interaction, or a higher-resolution panel. Artists and other users who prioritize those capabilities should compare currently available Pro models directly, checking their specifications and prices rather than relying on the product announcement noted in the 2025 review.
Cult of Mac listed the Display 15 at $299 / €299 / £259, the espresso Case at $49, and adapter cables at $45 each in its January 9, 2025 review. These are historical figures, not current offers; verify present pricing, regional availability, and what is included before deciding.
