Je zet je eSIM-nummer naar een nieuwe iPhone het snelst over met Quick Transfer, rechtstreeks vanaf je oude iPhone. Dat werkt alleen als je provider deze functie ondersteunt en beide toestellen aan de voorwaarden voldoen. Ontbreekt die optie, dan activeer je de eSIM op de nieuwe iPhone met de methode van je provider, zoals een QR-code, een link of de providerapp. Apple noemt in Nederland KPN, Odido en Vodafone als aanbieders voor Quick Transfer. De onderstaande stappen zijn gecontroleerd op 7 oktober 2026 en gelden voor Nederland.
Wat je nodig hebt voordat je begint
Quick Transfer is geen gewone datatransfer tussen twee telefoons. Het abonnement wordt van het ene toestel naar het andere overgezet, en daarvoor gelden een paar voorwaarden:
- De oude iPhone moet beschikbaar zijn en je moet erop kunnen inloggen en ontgrendelen.
- De oude iPhone mag niet al naar de fabrieksinstellingen zijn teruggezet. KPN waarschuwt hier uitdrukkelijk voor.
- Beide iPhones moeten bij hetzelfde Apple Account zijn aangemeld, dicht bij elkaar liggen en Bluetooth moeten hebben ingeschakeld.
- Op beide toestellen is iOS 18.4 of nieuwer nodig. Volgens Apple kun je met iOS 26 of nieuwer meer dan één nummer overzetten. Controleer de versie bij de actuele Apple-instructies, want Apple past de voorwaarden aan.
Quick Transfer: de overdracht stap voor stap
Apple beschrijft het proces in het supportartikel e-sim configureren op een iPhone. In de praktijk loop je deze stappen door:
- Start de nieuwe iPhone. Kies tijdens de installatie de optie om het nummer vanaf een andere iPhone over te zetten.
- Als de nieuwe iPhone al is ingesteld, ga je naar Instellingen > Mobiel netwerk > Voeg e-sim toe en kies de overdracht vanaf een iPhone in de buurt.
- Selecteer het nummer dat je wilt overzetten. Als het toestel meerdere lijnen aanbiedt, kies dan de juiste.
- Volg de aanwijzingen op beide iPhones en bevestig de overdracht op de oude iPhone.
- Wacht tot de nieuwe eSIM is geactiveerd. Pas daarna wis je de oude iPhone of zet je hem terug naar de fabrieksinstellingen.
Zodra het abonnement op het nieuwe toestel actief is, wordt de vorige simkaart gedeactiveerd. Het is daarom verstandig om de oude iPhone pas te wissen als je zeker weet dat de nieuwe lijn werkt. Test bijvoorbeeld even bellen en mobiel internet voordat je verder gaat.

Providercontrole Nederland
Apple’s officiële overzicht van Nederlandse aanbieders, de pagina Mobiele aanbieders en wereldwijde netwerkaanbieders die e-sim aanbieden op de iPhone, noemt KPN, Odido en Vodafone voor eSIM Quick Transfer. Dat betekent niet dat elk abonnement van deze providers automatisch werkt. Controleer bij twijfel de actuele instructies van je eigen aanbieder.
KPN
KPN heeft een eigen handleiding voor het overzetten van een eSIM met Quick Transfer naar een iPhone, te vinden via de KPN-pagina over e-sim Quick Transfer. De pagina kon bij het controleren niet rechtstreeks worden geopend, dus lees de stappen op de site zelf na voordat je begint. Houd de oude iPhone intact tot de overdracht is voltooid.

Vodafone
Bij Vodafone kun je de overdracht via Quick Transfer doen. Zo werkt het:
- Ga op de nieuwe iPhone naar Instellingen > Mobiel netwerk > e-sim toevoegen en kies Zet over vanaf iPhone in de buurt.
- Werkt dat niet, haal dan de QR-code en ePIN op via My Vodafone of de Vodafone & Ziggo-app.
- Zorg dat de nieuwe iPhone internetverbinding heeft en scan de code.

Odido
Odido beschrijft twee routes. De eerste is Quick Transfer, tijdens de configuratie of later via Instellingen > Mobiel netwerk > Voeg e-sim toe. Selecteer daar het nummer of kies Zet over vanaf iPhone in de buurt. Odido vraagt dat wifi en Bluetooth op de oude iPhone aan staan.
De tweede route is een nieuwe eSIM aanvragen in de Odido-app en die installeren via een QR-code of een link die per e-mail wordt gestuurd. Zie ook de Odido-pagina over eSIM.

Als Quick Transfer niet verschijnt of mislukt
De optie kan ontbreken omdat je provider of abonnement deze overdracht niet ondersteunt, of omdat een van de toestellen niet aan de voorwaarden voldoet. Gebruik dan de activeringsmethode van je provider.
Controleer eerst de basis
- Staat Bluetooth op beide iPhones aan en liggen ze dicht bij elkaar?
- Zijn beide toestellen aangemeld bij hetzelfde Apple Account?
- Voldoen beide toestellen aan iOS 18.4 of nieuwer?
- Is de oude iPhone ontgrendeld en niet teruggezet naar de fabrieksinstellingen?
Gebruik de QR-code of link van je provider
Een QR-code, providerapp of link is een volwaardig alternatief. Daarmee activeer je de eSIM op de nieuwe iPhone zonder dat de oude iPhone nodig is. Bij Vodafone haal je de code op via My Vodafone of de Vodafone & Ziggo-app, bij Odido vraag je een nieuwe eSIM aan in de Odido-app. Een QR-code is alleen een activeringsmiddel; je hoeft er geen extra product voor aan te schaffen.

Eenmalige eSIM zonder oude iPhone
Heb je de oude iPhone niet meer, of is die kapot of kwijt, dan is Quick Transfer niet de juiste weg. Neem contact op met je provider en vraag een nieuwe eSIM-activatie aan. De provider controleert dan je identiteit en stuurt je de activeringsgegevens. De exacte procedure verschilt per aanbieder.
Veelgemaakte fouten
- De oude iPhone gewist voordat de nieuwe lijn werkte. Wacht altijd tot de nieuwe eSIM is geactiveerd. Het oude toestel is dan je vangnet.
- De verkeerde route gekozen. Quick Transfer werkt alleen tussen twee iPhones. Gebruik je een andere telefoon of een tablet, dan blijft de QR-route de betrouwbare keuze.
- Vertrouwen op oude instructies. Apple en providers passen hun schermen en voorwaarden aan. Volg daarom altijd de actuele instructies van de aanbieder.
Zo zet je je eSIM-nummer over naar een nieuwe iPhone met zo min mogelijk onderbrekingen: eerst controleren of Quick Transfer kan, daarna de overdracht of de providerroute kiezen en het oude toestel pas wissen als de nieuwe lijn werkt.
