EQT has completed its acquisition of Exolaunch, the Germany-headquartered provider of launch mission management, satellite integration and orbital deployment. Exolaunch announced the closing on October 7, 2026. EQT had first announced the signed definitive agreement on June 18, 2026, and expected the deal to close in the fourth quarter, so the closing came on schedule for that window. Neither company has disclosed the transaction value, and the announcements do not describe any post-closing restructuring.
What EQT acquired and what remains undisclosed
According to EQT, the acquisition was made through EQT X, and it marks the first investment by EQT Private Equity in the space sector. In its June announcement, EQT’s Nils Ketter, Partner and Head of Industrial Technology in the EQT Private Equity advisory team, said: “EQT is excited to partner with Exolaunch, which marks EQT Private Equity’s first investment in the space sector.” EQT described its intended support as investment in global operations, new launch and deployment technology, and expanded services across the satellite mission lifecycle.
Exolaunch’s own framing is that the new ownership will let it scale operations and pursue more opportunities with both established and emerging launch providers. Those are the companies’ stated plans. The announcements do not report completed operational changes after closing, and they do not give a purchase price, deal terms or governance changes. Any article or comparison that states those details is going beyond the public record.
In its October 7 closing release, Exolaunch CEO Dr. Robert Sproles said: “EQT shares our belief that a growing space economy needs dependable launch infrastructure.”

What Exolaunch does
Exolaunch sells a package of services around getting a satellite to orbit, not only a piece of hardware. The company develops and manufactures satellite separation systems and payload launch stacks, and it also runs the program work around them. Its established service areas are:
- Launch program planning
- Mission management
- Launch capacity procurement
- Satellite integration and testing
- Logistics
- Orbital deployment
An end-to-end example: Transporter-16
Exolaunch’s March 30, 2026 release on the Transporter-16 mission shows how that package works in practice. The company describes end-to-end coordination covering procurement, contractual and technical deliverables, customs and logistics, launch campaign operations, satellite integration and deployment. The mission carried 57 customer satellites, a single-mission figure that Exolaunch reported as a milestone at that time. The March 30 mission release is the primary source for those details.

The announced portfolio: what is flying and what is planned
Exolaunch’s recent announcements describe several programs at different stages. Only the first row below is a completed service; the rest are dated plans that remain subject to their own schedules and may change.

Starfall: a return-to-Earth payload service
The most significant service addition is payload integration for SpaceX’s Starfall mission aboard Starship, targeted for 2029. Exolaunch says the offering is intended to support microgravity research, in-space manufacturing and the return of payloads to Earth. Its role is to aggregate customer demand and to manage the technical, contractual, logistical and operational requirements that come with it. Because it has not yet flown, readers should treat it as a planned service rather than current capacity. Exolaunch announced it in its September 21, 2026 Starfall contract announcement.

- BUILD IT. COUNT DOWN. LAUNCH IT 10 FEET: Kids build their own realistic rocket and durable launcher from precision-cut wooden parts — then press the red launch button and watch it blast up to 10 feet into the air. No batteries, no electricity — pure mechanical action. Winner of the 2025 Parents Choice Award. Designed for kids ages 6 to 12.
- REAL ROCKET SCIENCE — SERIOUSLY: Every launch teaches Newton's Third Law of Motion — action and reaction — in the most tangible way possible. Kids also discover how rocket propulsion works, what forces keep a rocket on course, and why aerodynamic design matters. These are the same principles behind actual space missions, learned through building and launching.
- SAFE FOR INDOOR LAUNCHING: The rocket's soft foam tip makes it safe to launch indoors — no need for a backyard or outdoor space. Kids can blast off in the living room, bedroom, or classroom without any risk to people or furniture. The launcher is stable, the rocket is lightweight, and the thrill is completely real.
- STEM SKILLS BUILT INTO EVERY STEP: Assembling the rocket and launcher teaches structural engineering, spatial reasoning, and mechanical thinking before a single launch takes place. Kids follow illustrated step-by-step instructions to complete the build independently — developing patience, precision, and confidence in their own ability to make things work.
- RELAUNCHABLE, REPLAYABLE, ENDLESSLY FUN: This isn't a one-shot toy. Kids reload, relaunch, and experiment — adjusting angle, force, and technique to see how high and how far the rocket goes each time. Every launch is a new experiment. Every tweak teaches something new about physics, force, and flight.

Announcements do not establish a competing transaction or an alternative launch-integration provider with which to benchmark this deal, so a company-to-company comparison would not be supported. The more useful way to judge the expansion is along these axes:
- Service stage: operating rideshare and integration work versus announced future services such as Starfall.
- Mission type: shared rideshare missions versus dedicated launches such as Exo-1 and Exo-2.
- Launch provider and vehicle: Falcon 9, H3 and Starship programs carry different schedules and dependencies.
- Target date and orbit: for example, the H3 flight is described as a 2027 mid-inclination orbit mission.
- Exolaunch’s role: capacity procurement, integration, logistics, operations, deployment, or payload return coordination, depending on the program.
Readers should keep the distinction between completed and planned work in view. Several of the newest programs are scheduled for 2027 through 2029, and their dates are the companies’ own targets.
