End of Abyss has eight Data Shards. According to the available walkthroughs, collecting all eight and handing them to the Mainframe in Lower Levels B3 unlocks the route to the secret ending: defeat the final boss again. The shards are not missable, so you can return for them after finishing the main story.
What do the Data Shards unlock?
The shards are tied to the game’s secret ending. The walkthrough sequence is to gather all eight, take them to the Mainframe in Lower Levels B3, and then fight the final boss again. The Epic Games Store achievement listing confirms the collection milestone with an achievement called “Shard Collector,” described as “All Data Shards found.” Epic’s listing confirms the achievement, but does not describe the secret-ending steps; those steps come from walkthroughs.
Where are all eight Data Shards?

This list identifies the areas, not exact room-by-room directions. For a route through the rooms, use the 100% Guides true-ending walkthrough. Its surfaced route summaries describe gated detours involving a burnable wall, keycards, keys, switches, charges, and access opened by draining water. Those are guide instructions, rather than independently verified route testing.
When should you collect them?
You do not have to collect the shards during the main story. The 100% Guides walkthrough says none are missable and that all eight can be collected after completing the game. That lets you focus on the main path first and return for collectibles later.

How to use the shards for the secret ending
- Find all eight Data Shards, using the area checklist and a room-level walkthrough if needed.
- Go to the Mainframe in Lower Levels B3 and hand in the shards.
- Defeat the final boss again to reach the secret ending, as described by the 100% Guides walkthrough. The 100% Guides trophy guide gives the same essential turn-in and replay sequence.
