Eluru district Cyber Cell police recovered 200 lost or stolen mobile phones during September, valued at around ₹50 lakh, according to an India Live report published October 6, 2026. The report attributes the announcement to Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore; it does not explain how the phones were traced or how their value was estimated.
What Eluru police reported
India Live reported that Eluru district Cyber Cell police recovered 200 phones that had been lost or stolen at different locations during September. The report says officers used “the latest technology” and returned the devices to their owners after “thorough verification.” It does not describe the technology or the verification checks, identify the phone models, or say how many owners received devices. India Live’s October 6, 2026 report attributes the figures to SP K. Pratap Shiva Kishore.
The estimated combined value was around ₹50 lakh. The report does not give a valuation method, so that figure should be understood as an estimate reported by the outlet, not an independently documented appraisal.
How to report a lost or stolen phone in Eluru
The SP advised people whose phones are lost or stolen to file a complaint through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) or contact the nearest police station, according to the report. Eluru District Police also lists a missing-mobile complaint service on its official website. Use the current official instructions on the relevant service, since the news report does not explain either route’s detailed workflow.

The report’s advice to use CEIR does not establish that CEIR was used to trace these particular 200 phones. A separate, earlier report about an Eluru recovery initiative quoted Andhra Pradesh DGP Harish Kumar Gupta describing CEIR use in that earlier effort; that account is not evidence of the method used for September 2026 recoveries.
How this fits the wider recovery picture
For historical national context, the Department of Telecommunications said in a November 25, 2025 release that more than 50,000 phones were recovered nationally in October 2025 and that cumulative recoveries had exceeded 7 lakh at that time. It also reported a 47% increase in monthly recoveries between June and October 2025. These are dated, India-wide figures—not current totals and not figures specific to Eluru.
