Shivon Zilis, the mother of four of Elon Musk’s children, said in a post reported as published on X on October 2, 2026, that she had gone from being “in love” to being “let go” in a week without warning. The statement is her account; the reports do not establish who initiated the reported split or why.

What Shivon Zilis said

“It’s hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that’s just how it is sometimes,” Zilis wrote, according to same-day reports by Futurism and E! News. Futurism also reproduced her words, “I will miss him dearly.”

Zilis’s wording describes the change from her perspective. It does not, by itself, explain what happened privately or confirm which person made the decision.

What is reported about their relationship

The two outlets identify Musk as the person Zilis was referring to and report that they have four children together. E! News characterizes their relationship as lasting more than five years. That duration is the outlet’s description, not a date-by-date account of the relationship.

What the screenshot does—and does not—show

Futurism reported that Zilis’s post included a screenshot of a message exchange in which a person identified as Musk discussed a dinner involving Chinese leader Xi Jinping. That is a description of an image reported by the outlet, not independent authentication of the messages or their full context.

What remains unconfirmed

The cited reports reproduce Zilis’s public statement, but do not provide an independently verified explanation from both people. They do not establish the private reason for the reported split or include Musk’s account of events. Accordingly, “let go” should be understood as Zilis’s description, rather than a verified account of how or why the relationship ended.
