A 50-foot statue of the Titan Prometheus has been erected beside a Texas road about 10 miles from Starbase, according to a report by Sophie Hurwitz published October 2, 2026. The sculpture was made by Atelier Missor, but the report says it is not on Starbase property.
What is the statue, and who made it?
The sculpture depicts Prometheus, the Titan associated with bringing fire to humanity. Hurwitz’s report identifies Atelier Missor, a sculpture group, as the maker and describes the work as hollow and welded. Its reported height is 50 feet; the report does not cite an independent survey of the dimensions.
Where is it—and is it part of Starbase?
The statue stands beside a Texas road roughly 10 miles from Starbase, the report says. It is not on Starbase property, so describing it as a statue inside the company town would be inaccurate. The report does not establish who owns the land, which authority controls the road, or whether permits or other approvals applied.

How the original proposal differs from the finished statue
| Aspect | Original proposal | Reported finished work |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Atelier Missor proposed a titanium statue in a June 18, 2025 post, according to Hurwitz’s report. | The report describes the completed sculpture as hollow and welded; it does not identify titanium as its material. |
| Location | The group presented the proposed sculpture as a gift to Starbase. | It was installed beside a Texas road about 10 miles from Starbase, off Starbase property, according to the report. |
| Timeline | No timeline for the proposal is stated in the cited report. | Atelier Missor said in its October 2, 2026 announcement that the figure was cast in Paris, crossed the Atlantic, and was assembled at Starbase over 100 days. The group wrote: “It took us 100 days to go from nothing to this.” |
What did it cost, and how did Musk respond?
Atelier Missor estimated that it spent $1 million of its own funds on the work, Hurwitz reported. That figure is the group’s estimate, not an independently verified or audited cost.
