ElevenLabs plans to extend its voice AI to all 22 official Indian languages within about a year, CEO Mati Staniszewski said at the company’s first India Summit in Bengaluru on October 6, 2026. The number is a target. The reported current count is 14 languages, and the two main reports describe what that 14 covers a little differently.
What was announced
Business Standard reported on October 6, 2026 that ElevenLabs offers speech-to-text and text-to-speech services in 14 Indian languages. It said the company would cover all 22 official Indian languages within the next year. The report attributes the plan to Staniszewski, who is co-founder and CEO.
Economic Times reported the same day that the latest text-to-speech model, Eleven V4, supports 14 Indian languages. It said the company aims to reach all 22 “in coming months.” Part of that article is paywalled.

Why “14” is not a single clean number
The two outlets scope the current figure differently:

It is therefore not established that all 14 languages are available for both listening and speaking. If you need speech recognition in a specific language, confirm it directly with ElevenLabs.
What has not been disclosed
- The eight languages still to be added are not named.
- No per-language release dates have been given. The only timeline is the overall “within a year” or “coming months” framing.
- No independent benchmark of recognition accuracy, latency or voice naturalness across Indian languages has been published. Covering a language does not show that quality is equal across all of them.
Do not infer the roadmap from the language lists of other ElevenLabs features, such as voice cloning. Those lists are scoped differently.

What the CEO said
As reported by Business Standard, Staniszewski said: “People should be able to interact with AI as naturally as they interact with each other, through conversation and through voice, in their language and dialect.” He added: “Sounding human is just the first step. AI also needs to listen, understand the context, respond naturally, follow guardrails, and act on intent.”

The second quote signals that the focus is moving beyond generated speech to voice agents that listen and act.

What ElevenLabs offers in India today
ElevenLabs’ India page describes a platform with speech models, conversational agent orchestration, India deployment support and enterprise governance. The company says it includes:
- Real-time text-to-speech and speech-to-text.
- Voices tuned for Indian accents and code-switched speech, where speakers mix languages mid-sentence.
- Operation in noisy call environments.
- Telephony integrations with Ozonetel, Exotel and Plivo.
These are vendor descriptions, not independent test results.

It cites customer experience, financial services, recruitment, healthcare and commerce as application areas, with examples the company selected.

ElevenLabs said in a July 30, 2025 announcement that its Eleven v3 model supported 12 Indian languages. A September 23, 2025 company update repeated the 12 figure and noted native Hindi and Tamil support. The same July announcement made India data residency available to Enterprise customers, with India-based infrastructure and an isolated India environment.

The 12 figure belongs to a specific model version in 2025. It does not conflict with the 14 reported in October 2026. The September 2025 update also included customer examples and claims about scale and cost savings. These are company-reported and have not been independently verified.
