The Electrolux UltraSilencer ZUS40650R is a discontinued, bagged barrel vacuum. Public specifications give a useful picture of its size and reach, but the detailed cleaning, noise, reliability and satisfaction scores on CHOICE’s review page are restricted to members. That means the available evidence supports a specification and ownership assessment—not a firm verdict on how well it cleans.
What the public review tells us
CHOICE classifies the ZUS40650R as a barrel vacuum with a bag dust collector and marks it as a discontinued model. Its public listing reports these specifications; the publication date is not shown on the page:
| Specification | CHOICE listing |
|---|---|
| Power stated | 1800 W |
| Power measured | 1260 W |
| Measured dust collector volume | 2.3 L |
| Reach from power point | 11.5 m |
| Weight | 7.9 kg |
| Supplied accessories | Telescopic wand, hose, carpet/hard-floor tool, hard-floor tool, tool holder, crevice tool, upholstery tool, dusting brush and two dust bags |
The 1800 W figure is the stated power, while 1260 W is the measured power; they are different kinds of figures and should not be read as a cleaning score. CHOICE’s page displays categories including carpet cleaning, pet-hair removal, corners and edges, noise, ease of use, repairability, reliability and brand satisfaction, but the detailed results and recommendation are member-only in the consulted view. The visible information therefore does not establish a lab-performance verdict for this model. CHOICE’s ZUS40650R listing names Kim Gilmour and Adrian Lini in connection with its product testing and appliance testing work, but does not establish that either personally performed each measurement displayed for this exact model.
What the noise and filtration claims mean
A 2018 Electrolux promotional catalog mirrored by Manuals.plus lists Silent Air Technology, “65dB Low Noise,” a washable HEPA 12 filter, a 3-in-1 nozzle, and “Excellent Filtration with 0.00% Dust Emission (tested by SLG Germany).” These are historical manufacturer promotional claims, not an independent test report or evidence of results under all conditions. In particular, the catalog wording should not be taken to mean that the vacuum emits no dust in every use situation. The mirrored 2018 Electrolux catalog listing is the source for those claims.

Which bags and parts fit the ZUS40650R?
Parts availability is one practical consideration for a discontinued vacuum, but compatibility needs checking before ordering. A New Zealand parts retailer lists a collection for the ZUS40650R that includes an EFH12W washable HEPA filter, a 3-in-1 tool, floor tools, bag holder (140150904013), and hose and hose-handle components. This is retailer-stated compatibility, not an Electrolux exact-model compatibility declaration, and stock may change. Need A Part’s ZUS40650R collection shows the listed items.
Do not assume that the E212B s-bag eco bag fits this model just because it appears in documentation for a related UltraSilencer. Electrolux’s official factsheet identifies E212B and a 3.5 L bag for the related UltraSilencer Green ZUSG4061—not the ZUS40650R. Its manual also says, “Accessories may vary from model to model.” The factsheet and manual are useful cautions, but they do not establish the ZUS40650R’s original bag reference. Electrolux’s ZUSG4061 factsheet and ZUSG4061 user manual concern that related model.

Check compatibility before buying
- Find the model or product number on the vacuum’s identification marking.
- Compare the marking with the compatibility information on the seller’s listing.
- Match the replacement part number exactly, rather than relying on the UltraSilencer name alone.
- If the bag or filter variant remains unclear, check with Electrolux support or a local parts channel before ordering.
Is it worth buying used?
The evidence does not support a categorical yes or no. The CHOICE page lists a historical price of $449 and a cost per bag of $2.81, but gives no publication date for those figures; they are not current prices or a guide to today’s used-market value. The amount you would pay now, the availability and cost of compatible bags, and the condition of the individual vacuum all need checking locally.

- Condition and repairability, plus whether you can actually source the needed bags, filters or other parts.

Because the visible CHOICE page withholds detailed scores, it cannot answer those performance questions here. Treat them as things to verify from the individual machine and the seller, not as established strengths or weaknesses of the model.
