The Electrolux Pets 500 EFC52513DB is a bagless canister vacuum aimed at pet owners. It has a 2 L dustbin, a dedicated pet nozzle, and a washable filter kit (ESKW9) that Electrolux lists as compatible. Its published specifications are simple to read, but Electrolux’s own materials disagree on cleaning reach. This review relies on manufacturer material only. It includes no lab results and no hands-on testing, so it cannot say how well the machine picks up pet hair. Every performance figure below is Electrolux’s claim, and it is labelled that way.
What the EFC52513DB is
Electrolux lists this model as the 500 Pet Bagless Vacuum Cleaner. It is a canister design, so the motor and dustbin sit in a body that is pulled along behind a floor nozzle on a wand. Because it is bagless, dirt collects in a clear-sided dustbin rather than a disposable bag. The Australian product page (Electrolux Australia, “Canister Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, Light Denim Blue – Pet 500 – EFC52513DB”) lists the 2 L dustbin, a cyclone separator, and automatic cord rewind. The official fact sheet (Electrolux Australia, “EFC52513DB – 500 Pet Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Fact Sheet”) covers the technical figures.
Specifications, and where Electrolux’s figures disagree
The two official Australian sources agree on power and weight but not on cleaning reach. Use the table to see exactly which source says what.

| Item | Electrolux Australia product page | Electrolux Australia fact sheet |
|---|---|---|
| Motor power | 1750 W | 1750 W |
| Cleaning reach | 8 m | 7 m |
| Cleaner-only weight | 4.8 kg | 4.8 kg |
| Dustbin capacity | 2 L | Not stated |

Until the reach figure is confirmed for your region, treat the cleaning reach as 7 m to 8 m. Check the regional product documentation or the box before comparing it with another model. The fact sheet’s list of floor tools is also worth reading closely. If you expect an electrically driven brush roll, this machine does not list one.
#1 Best Overall
- POWERFUL SUCTION. Dirt, fur & dust don’t stand a chance against the Pet Hair Eraser Allergen Lift-Off vacuum’s suction power.
- LIFT-OFF DETACHABLE POD. Conveniently clean anywhere in your home, even hard-to-reach areas, with the lightweight canister and quick-release extension wand.
- HEPA SEALED ALLERGEN SYSTEM. This vacuum captures dust allergens inside the vacuum so they don’t escape back into the air you breathe.
- TANGLE-FREE BRUSH ROLL. Cut the hassle, not the hair. This vacuum is designed to handle hair and fur.
- SCATTER-FREE TECHNOLOGY. Vacuuming hard floors shouldn't be a headache. Strong suction and scatter-free technology makes cleaning a breeze.
Pet-focused tools
The product page and fact sheet list these attachments:
- Pet nozzle: Electrolux describes it for animal hair on carpets, beds and textiles. That is the intended use. No independent pet-hair test is available for this review.
- Upholstery nozzle: listed on both official sources for soft furnishings.
- 2-in-1 tool: the fact sheet describes it as a crevice and brush accessory.
- Accessory holder: listed on the product page.
A listed nozzle tells you what the machine ships with, not how well it works on hair that has been ground into a rug.

The filtration claim
Electrolux’s product page makes a specific filtration statement, quoted here exactly:

- POWERFUL SUCTION: Targets dirt, dust, and more for a thorough clean.
- XL DIRT CONTAINER: Holds up to 2 liters of debris.
- TURBOPASS BRUSH ROLL: TURBOPASS Brush Roll and a wide cleaning path help provide powerful pet hair pick-up with every pass.
- SCATTER FREE TECHNOLOGY: Clean hard floors with less effort. Strong suction and Scatter Free Technology help keep messes from spreading.
- TURBOBRUSH TOOL: Clean carpet, upholstery, and more!
Electrolux attributes the 98.9% figure to an external test under EN 779:2012, measuring initial fractional efficiency for particles above 1.0 microns. That is a threshold-specific result. It does not, on its own, show that the filter meets a HEPA classification. It says nothing about particles smaller than 1.0 microns, and it does not show how the filter performs after months of use with pet dander clogging it.
The cyclone and “2X longer suction power”
The product page also says the cyclone separator reduces interruptions and refers to “2X longer suction power.” A footnote points to Electrolux’s internal testing under IEC 62885-2 edition 2.0, clauses 5.1, 5.10 and 5.12. Read this as a manufacturer’s internal result. It is not a comparison against other vacuums, and no independent body is named for it.

Filters and replacement parts
The ESKW9 is the part to note for maintenance. Electrolux’s New Zealand kit page (“Performance Kit – ESKW9”) describes it as one multilayer washable motor filter and one washable exhaust filter, and lists the EFC52513DB among compatible models. The product page gives ESKW9 as the exhaust filter part number for this model.
Before ordering, confirm the fit yourself:
- Find the PNC (product number code) on the appliance rating plate. Electrolux says the rating plate carries it.
- Search Electrolux’s documentation service for the manual by model number or PNC. The Electrolux UK Support guidance (“Electrolux User Manuals: How to Find & Download Instructions”) describes this route.
- Check the filter catalogue or parts lookup for your region using the model or PNC. The Electrolux UK Shop listing (“Filters for Vacuum Cleaners”) and the parts catalogue both offer this lookup.
- Confirm that ESKW9 appears in that regional listing before buying.
Washable filters need to dry completely before refitting. Follow the manual’s cleaning instructions rather than general advice.

Customer ratings
The Australian product page shows a 4.9/5 rating from 22 reviews. That is the manufacturer site’s own display. The page does not show how the ratings are distributed, when the reviews were written, or what the reviewers said. A rating from 22 reviews on the seller’s own site is a small, unverified sample.
What is not established
No independent or hands-on test is available for this model. The following remain unverified:
- Pickup on carpet and hard floors
- Pet-hair removal from carpets, beds and upholstery
- Suction retention over a full clean
- Noise and emissions
- Mess when emptying the dustbin
- Durability and long-term filter performance
Wattage, nozzle names and manufacturer copy cannot stand in for these results. If you are weighing this machine against another model, compare bagged or bagless operation, weight and storage footprint, published reach, floor-head type, and filter cost. Then look for independent test results on the same criteria.
Who it is likely to suit
On the published specifications, the EFC52513DB is a bagless canister for owners who want a pet nozzle and upholstery tool in one box, a 2 L bin, and a washable filter kit that Electrolux lists for this model. It has no motorised floor head according to Electrolux’s fact sheet, so buyers who need strong carpet agitation should look at the floor-head design before deciding.
Electrolux states the filtration and suction figures. Test them yourself or look for independent results before relying on them.
