Avoid the exact electric kettles named in active safety notices, and follow the remedy specified for each one. Official warnings and recalls identify particular models, lots, and defects—not proof that every kettle from a brand is unsafe. The examples below come from notices in the United States, United Kingdom, and Japan; check the relevant authority’s current instructions before acting.
Which electric kettles should you avoid?
Do not buy, use, resell, or give away a kettle that matches an official stop-use warning. For products covered by a recall or replacement action, use the remedy in that notice. The models and actions below are specific to the notices described; they are not a ranking of brands or a list of every affected kettle.
Balbali HP-300E portable electric kettle — United States
In an August 6, 2026 warning, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said all Balbali portable electric kettles, model HP-300E, can pressurize and release hot steam or liquid unexpectedly. The agency reported 52 reports of unexpected release and 20 injuries, including third-degree burns. It urged consumers to stop using the kettle immediately and dispose of it, and warned: “Do not sell or give away these hazardous kettles.”

BLONGKY FCC 390 Pro portable electric car kettle — United States
A November 20, 2025 CPSC warning covers BLONGKY portable electric car kettles, model FCC 390 Pro, in taupe or white. Steam or hot water may spew when the kettle is opened, and the lid mechanism can fail and allow the top to open unexpectedly. CPSC reported at least 11 incidents and nine reports of burns, including one report of second-degree burns. The agency urged consumers to stop using the product immediately and dispose of it according to local hazardous-waste procedures; it also said not to sell or give it away.
The notice described online sales, including through Amazon.com and Walmart.com, for $17–$40 at the time. That is historical sale information, not current pricing or a measure of quality. Check the model and color against the CPSC warning.

Unbranded black-and-red kettle — United Kingdom
The UK Office for Product Safety and Standards reported on September 30, 2025 that an unbranded black-and-red electric kettle presented a serious fire risk because its plug fuse was inadequately specified and could overheat or explode under fault conditions. Live parts could also be accessible, creating an electric-shock risk. The import was rejected at the border and destroyed.
This is a finding about one product under UK requirements, not all unbranded or imported kettles. It shows why color, a metal body, or a low price cannot substitute for appropriate electrical construction and compliance. Read the UK product safety report.

Recalled kettles that may qualify for a remedy
These notices specify replacement actions rather than the same stop-use-and-dispose instruction given in the U.S. warnings. If your kettle appears to match, confirm the exact product details and follow the authority’s remedy; a brand name alone is not enough.
Group SEB Japan T-fal kettles — power-plate replacement
Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency lists a Group SEB Japan power-plate replacement action that began September 16, 2025. Certain manufacturing lots could suffer power-cord damage if the cord is used inappropriately, potentially causing smoke or ignition near the outlet. The record lists 4,185,393 target units; that is the number covered by the action, not the number known to be defective or to have caught fire.

Owners in Japan should compare both the product number and the four-digit manufacturing code with the official list and use its free power-plate replacement process. Do not assume a generic or marketplace part is equivalent to the specified remedy. Check the Consumer Affairs Agency record.
Tiger PCS-A080 and PCS-A100 variants — lid-unit replacement
A Consumer Affairs Agency record describes a Tiger Corporation recall beginning July 21, 2026 for six PCS-A080 and PCS-A100 variants produced from March 9 through May 21, 2026. The kettles did not meet the prescribed overturning-water test criterion. The listed response is recall and replacement of the lid unit. The record lists 31,506 target units; this is the action’s target quantity, not a failure rate for these models or Tiger products generally.

ZWILLING ENFINIGY and ENFINIGY Pro kettles — handle concern
Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency lists an action beginning May 18, 2026 for specified ZWILLING ENFINIGY and ENFINIGY Pro kettles. The handle may loosen or detach completely during use. Use the official recall record to identify whether your precise product is included and follow its remedy; the brand name alone does not establish that a kettle is affected.

Use these checks to spot documented risk signals. They cannot certify an unlisted kettle as safe or replace applicable regional standards and current recall checks.
- Confirm exact identity. Read the model, color or version, product number, serial or lot code, and production period from the product label. Compare the details with the current official notice rather than relying on a retailer’s title or a brand name.
- Check electrical details for your region. Look for the correct regional plug and check official notices for findings involving a plug, fuse, earthing, cord, or accessible live parts.
- Look for hot-liquid containment warnings. Search notices for pressure build-up, unexpected steam or water release, or a lid that can open unexpectedly.
- Check mechanical and spill-related findings. A handle that can loosen or detach and a failure of an overturning-water test are distinct warning signs.
- Follow the notice’s specific remedy. A stop-use-and-dispose instruction, a replacement part, and another recall remedy are not interchangeable. Do not pass on a product that the authority says not to sell or give away.
What these warnings do—and do not—tell you
An official notice is evidence about the named product, defect, and remedy. It does not establish that every product from the same brand is unsafe, and it does not establish that an unmentioned model is safe. The examples span three jurisdictions whose product actions and electrical requirements differ. Check the relevant official record for your location and product before buying or using a kettle.
These notices do not establish a safe replacement shortlist. A retailer category page is not a safety endorsement: verify a candidate’s exact model and current regional recall status independently before choosing it.
