Amazon’s October 2026 Prime Big Deal Days run October 6–7, according to its official announcement. A September 30 Mashable roundup syndicated by Yahoo Tech highlighted more than 20 early storage offers across microSD cards, internal and portable SSDs, and hard drives. Treat its prices as a dated snapshot, not live quotes: check the current listing, seller, capacity or model variant, stock and price before buying.
What the early storage roundup includes
The September 30 roundup covers four different kinds of storage. They are not interchangeable: choose based on the device you need to expand or the files you need to move or back up.
| Storage type | Examples in the roundup | Best matched to |
|---|---|---|
| Internal SSD | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB PCIe 4.0; WD Blue internal hard drives | PC storage upgrades, subject to the computer’s supported drive type and interface |
| microSD | SanDisk 512GB microSD Express Card; 32GB Ultra microSDHC; 128GB High Endurance Video microSDXC | Devices with a compatible microSD slot; check card format and device support |
| Portable SSD | SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD; SanDisk 500GB Portable SSD; Samsung T7 and T9 | Portable file storage and transfers, provided the host device supports the connection |
| Hard drive | Seagate 2TB Portable Hard Drive; WD My Passport 5TB; WD Elements 5TB and 6TB | Higher-capacity portable storage or backups where capacity and price matter more than SSD form factor |
Which deals are worth checking first?
For a PC or console storage upgrade
The roundup names Samsung’s 990 PRO 2TB PCIe 4.0 as its “Best SSD deal.” It reports sequential speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s; that is the product specification as described in the article, not an independent benchmark. Confirm that your system supports the drive’s form factor and interface before ordering. A drive’s advertised maximum speed does not guarantee that every computer or console will reach it.

The roundup includes a 512GB SanDisk microSD Express Card, a 32GB SanDisk Ultra microSDHC, and a 128GB SanDisk High Endurance Video microSDXC. Check the device manual for supported card formats and capacity before choosing. In particular, a card’s label alone does not establish that a particular camera, handheld or other device supports it.
#1 Best Overall
- NEXT GEN GAMING: Works with Nintendo Switch 2.
- READY FOR TOMORROW. Ready for future products with a PCIe-NVMe interface; performs at UHS-I speeds with microSD UHS-I and UHS-II devices.
- EXPONENTIALLY FASTER PERFORMANCE. Up to 4.4 times faster transfer speeds than our fastest microSD UHS-I cards [9]. Transfer a 2-hour HD movie in less than 3.5 seconds [1]; save up to 2.8 minutes transferring 60 minutes of 4K UHD video [4] shot at 30 fps when paired with the SanDisk PRO-READER SD Express Dual Card (sold separately) [9]
- DURABILITY YOU CAN COUNT ON: Cards are waterproof, temperature-proof, humidity-proof, drop-proof, shock-proof, magnetic-proof, x-ray proof, and wear-out proof [5].
- HEAT MANAGEMENT REIMAGINED. SanDisk ThermAdapt helps keep devices from overheating with a specially designed enclosure and controller that uses dynamic adaptive thermal management.
For portable files or backups
The SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD and Samsung T7 and T9 are among the portable SSDs named; the roundup also lists a SanDisk 500GB Portable SSD. Portable hard-drive examples include Seagate’s 2TB Portable Hard Drive and Western Digital’s My Passport 5TB and Elements 5TB and 6TB. Compare the exact model and capacity on the live listing, then consider whether compact portability and SSD storage or greater hard-drive capacity better fit your use.
Prices reported on September 30 are not current quotes
At publication on September 30, 2026, the article reported the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB at $389.99 against a listed reference price of $639.99, and the SanDisk 512GB microSD Express Card at $159.99 against $199.99. Those figures describe that article’s publication-time offers; they do not establish today’s price, current availability, or a lasting discount. The roundup’s other deals should likewise be checked on their live retailer listings rather than assumed to remain available at the reported terms.

What “RAMageddon” means here
“RAMageddon” is the roundup’s framing for rising memory-product prices and constrained consumer supply. The cited sources do not establish a quantified market-wide crisis or its causes, so it is best read as a headline phrase—not as proof that every storage product is becoming scarcer or more expensive.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- Capacity Reminder: Display capacity of external hard drive 1TB often appears as around 931GB on Windows. MacOS typically shows full 1TB. This display capacity reduction of 7% to 10% from SSD actual capacity is from algorithms differences in which 1GB is interpreted as 1024MB on Windows and 1000MB on SSDs
- 550MB/s: Instantly access to your files with blazing 6Gbps external ssd speed up to 550MB/s. LED Light indicates portable ssd instant activity (Actual speed depends on drive capacity, host device, OS and application)
- Data Security: Master external solid state drives health with S.M.A.R.T. monitoring. TRIM technology ensures consistent write speeds and extends the longevity of the portable SSD
- USB C+A : Both USB-C cable and USB-A adapter featuring rapid USB 3.2 Gen2, this USB SSD effortlessly bridges devices, enabling seamless cross-platform file transfers between computers, smartphones, tablets and Phones
- Always Fast: No slowdowns during large file transfers. This external ssd remains steady 6Gbps by using high speed SLC caching (25%of the current available capacity is allocated for high speed cache)
