The Dry Home DH24 is a discontinued, medium-size refrigeration dehumidifier. CHOICE publishes its claimed specifications, but the publicly accessible pages do not show an expert rating, test results, or a verdict on how well it performs. This article sets out what is established, what is not, and how to shop for a replacement if you are considering one.
What the DH24 is and what CHOICE publishes about it
CHOICE lists the DH24 as a refrigeration dehumidifier in its medium size category. Its model page gives the following details. Every performance figure is a manufacturer claim as presented by CHOICE, not a result CHOICE has verified in public material.

Two practical points follow from this list. A single fan speed means you have one airflow setting to work with. The 5–35°C operating range is the manufacturer’s stated limit, so it tells you the temperatures at which the unit is intended to run, not how much water it removes at each of them.

Why the 24 L/day figure cannot tell you how much water it will remove in your room
The 24 L/day number is a claimed water-removal rate. CHOICE does not state the temperature and humidity conditions under which that figure was produced, and it does not record a recommended room size for the DH24. It is tempting to convert the claim into a room-size rule of thumb, but the published material does not support that step, so this article does not make it.

CHOICE’s own testing describes how a fair comparison should be run. The organisation says it evaluates dehumidifiers for water removal, energy efficiency and ease of use, and that units are tested in a temperature- and humidity-controlled chamber, including runs that reflect cold, humid winter conditions. Those are the conditions that matter most for a unit like this, because refrigeration dehumidifiers generally remove less water as the air gets colder. A claimed 24 L/day figure is not directly comparable with a tested result taken at a different temperature and humidity.
Is the DH24 still available?
CHOICE’s comparison page, which was updated on 12 May 2026, marks the DH24 as discontinued. The same page shows a price of $880 beside the model. That figure is a page figure. The page does not establish whether it is a current selling price or a historical one, so it should not be read as what the DH24 costs today.

If you already own one or find one second-hand, the absence of current support matters more than the price. The publicly accessible material does not include an authoritative DH24 manual, current support contact, or a source for spare parts such as filters or drainage hoses. Check the label on the unit for the model and serial details before you contact anyone, and do not assume that accessories from other dehumidifier brands will fit.
What to compare if you are shopping for a 24 L/day dehumidifier
Because the DH24 cannot be bought new from the sources reviewed, the practical question is which current units are worth comparing. Use the same criteria CHOICE applies, and make sure you are comparing like with like:

- Water removed under comparable conditions. Compare tested results taken at the same temperature and humidity. A claimed 24 L/day figure on one product and a tested result on another are not a fair comparison.
- Energy efficiency or running cost. Use the same basis for each unit, and check whether the figure is a rating or an estimate.
- Ease of use. Look at the controls, how the water tank is emptied, and whether continuous drainage is supported.
- Fit for your room. Use a stated manufacturer or test basis for room suitability. Do not infer it from the capacity number alone.
The published material does not support ranking the DH24 against any named competitor, so this article does not offer one.
A current example from the same category
Breville Australia’s Smart Dry Plus Connect product page is an example of a separate, current dehumidifier listing. It describes a laundry mode, filtration, and an included one-metre continuous-drainage hose. When the page was checked, it showed the product as out of stock at its displayed price. The page does not establish that the Breville is equivalent to, or a replacement for, the DH24, and it should be assessed on its own specifications and the criteria above.

What is still unresolved
Three questions remain open in the publicly accessible material. CHOICE’s expert rating and test results for the DH24 are member-only, so no public performance verdict exists. No verified current support or spare-parts source for the DH24 was found. And the $880 figure has no date stamp that shows when it applied. Readers who need any of these answers should check CHOICE’s member content directly, contact the brand through its own channels, or compare a current model that publishes test data.
