DreamHost isn’t automatically better than other website builders. It may be a good fit if you want an AI-assisted site builder with hosting included, or if you want the flexibility of WordPress hosted by DreamHost. Those are different products: DreamHost describes Remixer as a standalone AI website and app builder, while Liftoff is an AI-powered builder for WordPress. The right choice depends on how much control you need, the workflows your site must support, and the full cost of hosting and moving your site later.
Which DreamHost website builder are you considering?
Remixer: a hosted AI website and app builder
DreamHost describes Remixer as an “agentic AI website and app builder”: you describe what you want in plain English, then use it to create and publish a web app on your domain. DreamHost says its standalone subscription includes hosting and a global content delivery network (CDN). The vendor also advertises a 30-day trial that does not require a credit card; that is a product term, not an independent assessment of the builder’s results.
Liftoff: an AI builder for WordPress
Liftoff is promoted on DreamHost’s pricing page as an AI-powered WordPress builder. It belongs to the WordPress route rather than Remixer’s standalone-builder model. DreamHost describes WordPress.org as a self-managed option that can suit people who expect to grow, customize, or monetize a site. WordPress offers more direct control, but you are responsible for managing the site’s content and components.

What can Remixer support?
DreamHost’s documented Remixer examples extend beyond basic informational pages. They include database-driven pages and interactive functions, as well as store workflows:
- Database-driven content: directories, catalogs, listings, schedules, and resource libraries.
- Forms and interactive tools: bookings, signups, and request intake.
- Online-store workflows: Stripe payments and Shippo shipping.
These are capabilities listed by DreamHost, not independently tested results. If a specific integration or business process is essential, confirm that it works in the plan and configuration you intend to use.
How does it compare with Wix and Squarespace?
Wix and Squarespace are useful comparisons because they offer hosted website-builder models. Their official materials describe different bundled benefits, but those descriptions alone do not establish which service is easier, faster, or better for a particular site.

How to decide which one is better for your site
Choose by the work your site needs to do
- For a straightforward hosted site: compare Remixer, Wix, and Squarespace based on the pages and features you actually need, and on what each current plan includes.
- For interactive or database-driven pages: Remixer’s documented examples include listings, schedules, forms, bookings, and request intake. Verify the specific workflow before committing.
- For a store: DreamHost lists Stripe payments and Shippo shipping among Remixer’s supported examples. Compare the required selling and shipping features with the other services’ current plans.
- For deeper customization or planned growth: consider WordPress through DreamHost, while accounting for the work involved in managing the site’s content and components.
Compare control with upkeep
A hosted builder can bundle important pieces into a single service. WordPress gives you more direct control, but that control comes with responsibility for managing your site. Before choosing, decide how much you want to customize and who will handle ongoing site work. The available vendor descriptions do not establish that one service requires less maintenance in every configuration.
Compare the full cost, not just the first advertised price
DreamHost’s pricing page showed a Web Hosting Launch offer of $2.89 per month for the first year, renewing at $10.99 per month after one year. Those figures are a volatile, page-specific hosting-price snapshot, not the established price of Remixer. The page material does not establish Remixer’s subscription price. Confirm the current billing term, renewal amount, and plan contents directly before comparing costs.

For any provider, compare the same period and geography, including the plan tier needed for your features, domain or email add-ons, and renewal pricing. A low introductory rate is not a like-for-like comparison if a different plan or paid service is needed to run your site.

DreamHost says moving a site from a proprietary builder such as Wix, Weebly, or Squarespace may involve additional migration fees. Its pricing page describes manual migration or paid professional services for non-WordPress sites. That makes a future move part of the total-cost decision, not just an afterthought.

The available product information does not establish full export behavior for every builder or every type of site content. Before choosing, ask what can be exported, what would need to be rebuilt, and what a move to your intended destination would cost.

DreamHost can be the better fit when Remixer’s hosted AI-builder approach and documented workflows match your needs, or when you specifically want WordPress hosted by DreamHost and value customization enough to take on site management. There is no evidence here for a universal winner on ease of use, speed, templates, or overall value; compare the actual workflow, management burden, renewal cost, and exit path that matter to your site.
