In Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Unmoored World, an ordinary inn or house rest advances the red fog’s spread. If it overtakes the map, guides report that you must start the Unmoored World again. The bed at the Seafloor Shrine is described as a safe place to rest without advancing time. The exact number of rests before failure is not established consistently, so plan around the mechanic rather than a promised count.
What happens when you rest in the Unmoored World?
Resting at an inn or house advances the red fog, according to Prima Games’ guide. The fog is the pressure behind the Unmoored World’s apparent time limit: allowing it to progress far enough can end the run. Gamer Guides also describes the setting as having a pseudo time limit tied to the fog.

Where can you rest without advancing the fog?
Gamer Guides identifies the bed at the Seafloor Shrine as an exception: its guide says resting there does not make time pass. Use that location when you need to recover without triggering the reported fog advance from an ordinary inn or house rest.

Can objectives stop the red fog?
Prima Games reports, based on player reports, that completing city evacuations and destroying all non-final beacons stops fog progression. Its guide also says you can delay activating the final beacon to explore. Treat this as reported behavior rather than a universally confirmed rule, and distinguish the non-final beacons from the final beacon when deciding what to do next.

How much time do you have before you run out?
The available guides do not establish a reliable universal rest count. Prima Games gives a 12 in-game day deadline in its 1 April 2024 article, while search results have reported different counts, including 10. Because those figures conflict, it would be misleading to promise a specific number of safe rests.
The practical rule is simpler: assume ordinary rests advance the threat, minimize them, and use the Seafloor Shrine bed if you need the guide-reported safe option. Avoid spending rests based on a countdown unless you have verified that count for your own game version.

What happens if the fog takes over?
Prima Games says that if the fog takes over the map, you must start from scratch; Gamer Guides likewise describes failure as requiring another attempt. In other words, running out of time is not just a minor setback within the Unmoored World. Keep an eye on the fog and make progress toward the objectives instead of treating ordinary rests as free recovery.
