DraftKings (NASDAQ: DKNG) rose more than 7% to around $20 in recent trading on October 5, 2026, after Bank of America upgraded the stock from Neutral to Buy and kept its $27 price target. The move was an intraday report, not a confirmed closing price. The bank’s optimism centered partly on prediction markets, but its revenue figures are analyst estimates—not DraftKings guidance or results.
Why DraftKings shares rallied on October 5
Yahoo Finance reported the share-price move after Bank of America changed its rating to Buy from Neutral. The bank retained its $27 target; it did not raise it. The rally came after DraftKings shares had fallen more than 40% year to date as of that trading session, according to the same October 5 report. These are dated market snapshots, not current prices or performance figures.
Bank of America analysts cited the pullback, investor concern about unfavorable NFL outcomes, and uncertainty over DraftKings’ investment in prediction markets. They argued that the stock had reacted too harshly: “We think the recent pullback creates an attractive opportunity, and we increasingly believe [prediction markets] are a win-win,” and “In our view, the stock reaction is overdone.” Yahoo Finance attributed the comments to Bank of America analysts; the cited passage does not identify individual speakers. Yahoo Finance’s October 5 report is secondary coverage of the rating and comments.

As reported by Yahoo Finance, Bank of America analysts estimated that DraftKings’ prediction-market business could produce $400 million in fees in 2027, with a further $200 million to $400 million from market making. Those are third-party-reported analyst projections, not company-published forecasts, realized revenue, or a guarantee of future results. The original Bank of America note was not located, so the estimates are attributable only as reported by Yahoo Finance.

The analysts also argued that regulatory setbacks could remove an overhang for DraftKings’ wider business. That is a scenario in their investment thesis, not an established regulatory outcome. Prediction-market rules and the business’s ability to operate and monetize across jurisdictions remain important uncertainties.
How the analyst estimates compare with DraftKings’ guidance
DraftKings’ February 12, 2026 earnings release reported fourth-quarter 2025 revenue of $1.989 billion, up 43% from $1.393 billion in the prior-year quarter. The release also set fiscal 2026 guidance. These company figures have a different source, time period, and scope from Bank of America’s 2027 prediction-market estimates.

DraftKings said its fiscal 2026 ranges account for expected investment in DraftKings Predictions, launches in line-of-sight jurisdictions, and planning as conditions evolve. The guidance excludes potential variance related to sports outcomes and may have changed since the February release. What could change the outlook
DraftKings’ fiscal 2025 Form 10-K is the company’s primary filing for its business description and formal risk disclosures, including its prediction-market investment and Railbird acquisition. It is the appropriate source for issuer-specific risks; an analyst’s bullish thesis is not a substitute for those disclosures. Read the DraftKings fiscal 2025 Form 10-K alongside any investment view.

- Regulation: Legal treatment and operating permissions can affect whether and how prediction markets develop. Bank of America’s claim that setbacks could ease an overhang is a thesis, not a settled result.
- Sports results: DraftKings’ February guidance explicitly excluded potential variance from sports outcomes, which can make actual results differ from expectations.
- Execution and investment: The company said its fiscal 2026 outlook included planned spending on DraftKings Predictions and launches in line-of-sight jurisdictions. The 2027 analyst estimates depend on a separate prediction-market and market-making scenario.
- Forecast versus performance: The reported fourth-quarter revenue is historical company performance; the fiscal 2026 ranges are management guidance; the 2027 prediction-market figures are analyst estimates. They should not be treated as interchangeable measures.
Is now the time to buy DraftKings?
The October 5 rally shows how investors responded to one bank’s upgrade and prediction-market thesis; it does not establish that DKNG is undervalued or that the thesis will be realized. The case for buying depends in part on confidence in prediction-market economics and regulatory conditions, while the company’s own guidance also reflects planned investment and uncertainty around sports results. A decision requires weighing those assumptions against DraftKings’ filing, company results, current valuation, and an individual investor’s risk tolerance. This is general financial information, not individualized investment advice.
