Short answer: Android 10 is officially available for the ASUS ZenFone 5Z (ZS620KL). The latest build listed on ASUS’s support page reviewed on August 18, 2026, is WW-100.10.107.123, released March 25, 2021. For the 2018 ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL), ASUS’s latest official stock image is WW-16.0615.2006.131 on Android 9/Pie, released August 5, 2020. ASUS also published a WW-only Android 10 AOSP beta for the ZE620KL, but it is not a confirmed stable ZenUI release and erases personal data.
Identify your ZenFone before downloading anything
This guide covers only the 2018 models:
- ZenFone 5: ZE620KL
- ZenFone 5Z: ZS620KL
Do not use these packages on the original 2014 ZenFone 5, the ZenFone 5Q/5 Lite (ZC600KL), ZenFone 6, or another ASUS model. On the phone, open Settings → About → Model number. To record the installed software, open Settings → About → Software information → Build number.

A newer-looking WW file is not automatically suitable for an RU, IN, CN, or TW device.

ZenFone 5 ZE620KL: what Android 10 really means
Latest stable stock firmware
ASUS lists WW-16.0615.2006.131 as the latest official ZE620KL image located. Its release note reports an Android security-patch update; the official support trail does not establish a stable Android 10 ZenUI build. For normal ASUS software and the lowest-risk installation, this Android 9 image is the stock recommendation.
The Android 10 AOSP beta
ASUS announced V17.0615.2003.20, approximately 1.46 GB, as an Android 10 AOSP beta for the WW SKU only. It uses pure Android rather than ZenUI, and installation removes personal data. ASUS suggested updating first to 16.0615.2002.120 and told users who wanted ZenUI to remain on Android P. Treat it as an experimental project, not the normal latest Android 10 download. Possible consequences include missing ASUS features, application incompatibilities, camera, banking, DRM, NFC, or carrier-function problems, and a more difficult rollback. Prefer the current matching package on the ASUS support page over an older ZIP. ASUS’s initial Android 10 notes also warned that some ASUS applications and features changed or disappeared, including Page Marker, ZeniMoji, Selfie Master, Beauty Live, Kids Mode, and Easy Mode. Carrier behavior is regional: one later release documented VoLTE for T-Mobile in the United States and VoWi-Fi for Jio in India, not universal support.

Try the over-the-air update first
- Connect to reliable Wi-Fi and charge the phone, preferably above 50 percent.
- Back up photos, messages, authenticator data, and other important files.
- Open Settings → System → System updates.
- Use the check-for-update control, then download and install the offered package.
ASUS released updates in stages, sometimes by serial number. No notification can therefore mean a staged rollout, a regional or SKU difference, an already newer branch, or that ASUS no longer serves that OTA—not necessarily that the model is incompatible.
Install an official ASUS package manually
- Confirm ZE620KL or ZS620KL in Model number and record the full Build number.
- Open the correct ASUS support page above and select the phone’s exact region/SKU.
- Download the official firmware ZIP and the applicable Update SOP from ASUS’s Manual section.
- Read the SOP completely. Do not assume every ZIP is a recovery-installable full package; some files are incremental OTA packages.
- Back up your data and ensure adequate free storage. Keep the phone charged.
- Apply the package exactly as the SOP specifies, without renaming files or changing folders unless ASUS instructs you to do so.
- Do not disconnect power or force-restart the phone during installation. The first boot after a major upgrade can take several minutes.
- After startup, return to Settings → About → Software information and verify the expected build and Android version.
For reference, ASUS historically documented the initial 5Z Android 10 ZIP at https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZS620KL/UL-Z01R-WW-100.04.44.98-user.zip. That is the first Android 10 release, not the latest build, and its availability can change.

When installation fails
The ZIP is not detected
Check that the download completed, the file is the package type described by the SOP, it is stored where ASUS specifies, and the phone has enough free space. An incremental package may require a particular starting build.

Stop rather than trying random files. Recheck the model, region/SKU, and current build, then obtain the matching package from ASUS. ASUS warns that an incorrect SKU can cause failure; an update is not a supported method for converting a phone to another SKU.

Boot loop or unusually long first boot
Allow the initial boot time before repeatedly power-cycling. If the phone remains stuck, use only the recovery procedure in the matching ASUS SOP. Avoid wiping data until you have considered backups and recovery options.
Data-loss and downgrade warnings
A normal OTA may preserve user data, but you should still back up first. The ZE620KL AOSP beta explicitly erases personal data. ASUS also warns that 5Z downgrade procedures may erase internal storage. Do not treat a downgrade ZIP as an ordinary upgrade.
When to stop
If the phone cannot boot or enter the documented recovery process, stop flashing and contact ASUS support. Third-party mirrors and custom ROM instructions are outside ASUS’s official firmware path and can affect banking apps, Widevine, cameras, VoLTE, and warranty or supportability.

For a ZenFone 5Z (ZS620KL), use the matching ASUS package for WW-100.10.107.123 where that SKU is supported. For a ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL), the latest official stock firmware located is WW-16.0615.2006.131 on Android 9; the available Android 10 option is a WW-only AOSP beta without ZenUI and with a mandatory data wipe.
