The Galaxy Note9 audio archive linked by AndroidSage is described as a 127-file ZIP containing ringtones, notification tones, system/UI sounds and S Pen-related sounds. AndroidSage lists 31 ringtones and 52 system sounds; those counts are claims from its 2018 article, not a verified inventory. The download is a third-party distribution, not a Samsung-hosted package. Samsung confirms that Andrew Huang created three Note9 ringtones and two notification sounds inspired by the S Pen, but that does not authenticate every file in the archive. See AndroidSage’s original article and its Google Drive and MediaFire links, and check the destination and file before downloading: the page dates to August 12, 2018, so neither mirror’s present availability or integrity is established here.

Where to get the Note9 audio files

The AndroidSage article provides Google Drive and MediaFire mirror buttons for the archive. Use that page to reach the links; do not mistake either mirror for a Samsung download server. The links are old, and their current status, file size, contents and safety have not been independently confirmed here. If a mirror is unavailable or presents an unexpected installer, do not substitute a random copy or proceed with an executable.

  • Expect an archive file, not an APK. Audio files do not require installing an app.
  • Before opening the ZIP, confirm that the downloaded file has the expected archive extension and can be opened by a standard archive utility. Scan it with your computer’s security software if available.
  • Reject downloads that contain unrelated installers, scripts or browser extensions, or that ask you to disable device security. Avoid misleading advertisement buttons and password-protected copies from unknown sources.
  • Keep the original ZIP and folder structure until you have reviewed the extracted contents. If you need just one tone, copy only that audio file.

What the archive is said to contain

AndroidSage describes 127 files in total, including 31 ringtones and 52 system sounds, with additional notification and pen-related sounds. Its page does not provide a complete manifest, independently verifiable category totals, archive size or checksum. Treat the counts and categories as the page’s claims rather than a verified inventory; whether it also includes alarms, duplicate or regional files, and which formats are present is not established.

Category What is established Typical use
Ringtones AndroidSage claims 31; the archive has not been independently counted here. Incoming calls
System/UI sounds AndroidSage claims 52; the archive has not been independently counted here. Potential sounds for touch, lock, charging, keypad or keyboard events; copying files does not replace these built-in sounds.
Notifications Additional notification files are mentioned, but no count or manifest is provided. General alerts or app notification categories
S Pen-related sounds Additional pen-related files are mentioned, but no count or manifest is provided. Reusable audio, or compatible S Pen event settings where a device supports them
Alarms Presence and count are not stated in the source article. Alarm sound, if a suitable file is present and the alarm app permits selection

What Samsung confirms about the sounds

Samsung’s Newsroom article about the Note9’s S Pen-inspired alerts says musician Andrew Huang created three ringtones and two notification sounds using sounds associated with pens and paper. That is primary-source confirmation of this five-sound design story, not proof that every item in the AndroidSage ZIP came from final retail firmware. Samsung does not appear to host the complete 127-file archive as an official public download.

Extract the ZIP without installing an app

On a Galaxy phone

  1. Download the ZIP from the selected mirror in your browser.
  2. Open My Files and go to Downloads.
  3. Tap the ZIP and choose Extract or Extract here. Wording can vary with the phone’s software version.
  4. Open the extracted folder and preview the audio files. Do not move files while they are still inside the archive.

On Windows or macOS

  1. Download the ZIP and open it with the built-in archive utility.
  2. Extract it to a new folder, preserving the original folder structure.
  3. Review the contents and scan them with your security software before transferring selected audio files to your phone.

Set a file as a ringtone

On the Galaxy Note9, Samsung’s manual documents this route: Settings > Sounds and vibration > Ringtone > Add. Select the extracted file, preview it and confirm. Labels and placement may differ on newer Galaxy software. The Note9 user manual covers the Note9 interface.

If the ringtone picker does not show the file, use My Files to copy it to Internal storage/Ringtones, then reopen the picker. Samsung’s audio-file setup instructions describe using the Ringtones folder. You can create the folder if it is absent.

Set a file as a notification sound

  1. In My Files, find the extracted audio file, press and hold it, then choose Move or Copy.
  2. Place it in Internal storage/Notifications. Create the folder if needed.
  3. On the Note9, open Settings > Sounds and vibration > Notification sound, then select the file. The Note9 manual documents that menu; newer models may label it differently.

Some apps use their own notification controls. On Samsung software that exposes notification categories, try Settings > Apps > [app] > Notifications > [category] > Sound. The category may need to be set to Alert rather than Silent. Samsung notes that not every app permits custom notification sounds, and some apps manage sound selection internally; see its support guidance.

Use compatible formats and troubleshoot missing files

Samsung’s Note9 specification lists support for MP3, M4A, 3GA, AAC, OGG, OGA, WAV, WMA, AMR, AWB, FLAC, MID, MIDI, XMF, MXMF, IMY, RTTTL, RTX, OTA, DSF and DFF. Those are Note9 specifications, not a guarantee that every current Galaxy model, app or sound picker accepts every format. Samsung’s current UK support guidance lists MP3, WMA, AAC and FLAC for ringtone use and says M4A may need conversion; consult the instructions for your model if its picker behaves differently. See the Note9 specification sheet and Samsung’s current format guidance.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8, 64GB, Midnight Black - Fully Unlocked (Renewed)
  • Fully Unlocked: Fully unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US-Cellular, Cricket, Metro, etc.), both domestically and internationally.
  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a charger and charging cable that may be generic.
  • Inspected and guaranteed to have minimal cosmetic damage, which is not noticeable when the device is held at arm's length.
  • Successfully passed a full diagnostic test which ensures like-new functionality and removal of any prior-user personal information.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

For ordinary custom tones, MP3 is a practical compatibility choice. Do not merely change a filename extension: that does not convert the audio codec. If conversion is needed, make a copy and preserve the original.

  • The picker cannot find the file: Confirm it was extracted, then copy it to Internal storage/Ringtones or Internal storage/Notifications as appropriate. Reopen the picker; if needed, restart the phone.
  • The file is rejected: Confirm the extension matches the actual file and try a compatible MP3 copy. A format supported by the Note9 may not be supported by another model or app.
  • A notification works globally but not in one app: Check the app’s notification category and its own sound settings. The app may not permit custom tones or may use a different category.
  • The file plays silently or seems incomplete: Check that the download is not zero bytes or corrupted and that the file is not unusually quiet or silent. A streaming-service track is not the same as a transferable audio file; Samsung says streaming content generally cannot be used as an ordinary ringtone.
  • The ZIP will not open or a mirror is unavailable: Stop if the file is malformed or the download prompts for an installer. The AndroidSage article is the identified source for these mirrors; no replacement archive is verified here.
  • The menu is different: Samsung’s documented Note9 paths reflect its software. Newer models and One UI versions can use different labels or notification-category layouts.

What UI and S Pen files can—and cannot—do

Putting a UI sound in a normal Ringtones or Notifications folder makes it available, at most, as an ordinary selectable audio tone. It does not replace the phone’s built-in touch, screen-lock, charging, dialing-keypad or Samsung Keyboard sounds. The Note9 manual lists controls for those system events, but copying an audio file is not the same as replacing protected firmware resources. System-resource changes can require root access or firmware modification and carry risks such as data loss, reduced security, update problems or a device that fails to start; they are not part of the normal sound-file setup.

Likewise, copying an S Pen-related recording may let you use it as a ringtone or notification on another device, but does not add S Pen features. Selecting sounds for actual pen events depends on compatible S Pen hardware and software, and menu options vary by model. Samsung’s description of the Note9 set identifies ringtones and notifications, not a universal package that enables pen behavior on other Galaxy phones.
