Revelations is a six-level campaign expansion for DOOM: The Dark Ages. Its documented endgame sends you back through campaign levels with extra challenges and puzzles, then on to an uber boss and Master Arenas. Completing those arenas unlocks Revelations content in Ripatorium 3.0. Bethesda’s published information does not confirm whether base-campaign upgrades transfer into the DLC or whether you can freely select individual Revelations missions for replay.
What Revelations adds
Bethesda and id Software describe Revelations as a six-level campaign expansion featuring new demons, puzzles and the Chain Spear. The spear brings a different movement style built around dashing and grappling. In an Xbox Wire preview, Game Director and id Software Studio Co-Director Hugo Martin described the player first receiving it after the Slayer’s shield is broken, with the ability to switch between shield and spear becoming available later. That is a preview description of the expansion’s mechanics, not a statement about base-game progression transfer.

Martin summed up the movement goal this way: “We’re going to make the tanky Dark Ages Slayer fly.”
Does progress carry over from the base campaign?
Official sources reviewed do not say whether weapons, upgrades, or resources from the base campaign carry into Revelations. They also do not establish that a base-game save automatically brings those progression items into the DLC.
#1 Best Overall
- Developed by id Software, DOOM: The Dark Ages is the prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal that tells the epic cinematic origin story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage.
- In this third installment of the modern DOOM series, players will step into the blood-stained boots of the DOOM Slayer, in this never-before-seen dark and sinister medieval war against Hell.
- A dark fantasy/sci-fi single-player experience that delivers the searing combat and over-the-top visuals of the incomparable DOOM franchise, powered by the latest idTech engine. With a customizable difficulty system, it’s the perfect entry point whether you’re new to the franchise or a long time fan.
- As the super weapon of gods and kings, shred enemies with devastating favorites like the Super Shotgun while also wielding a variety of new bone-chewing weapons, including the versatile Shield Saw.
- Experience the origin story of the DOOM Slayer’s rage in this epic, cinematic, and action-packed story.
What is documented is a separate Revelations loadout: after completing its Master Arenas, you can use a fully upgraded Revelations loadout in Ripatorium 3.0. That unlock is specific to the DLC’s Ripatorium content and should not be mistaken for confirmation that base-campaign upgrades transfer.
What can you replay in Revelations?
The campaign-level endgame revisit
The described endgame loop returns players to campaign levels for additional challenges and puzzles. Xbox Wire’s July 2026 preview places this revisit before an uber boss and the Master Arenas. It confirms a structured endgame sequence, but not unrestricted replay of every Revelations mission at any time.

Uber boss and Master Arenas
After the added campaign challenges, the sequence leads to an uber boss and then Master Arenas. Bethesda’s Update 4 notes report a known issue in which enemies may fail to spawn in Master Arenas after repeated runs; the stated workaround is to load the previous checkpoint.

Can you freely replay individual Revelations missions?
The official material reviewed describes returning to campaign levels as part of the endgame, but does not confirm a general mission-select menu for freely replaying any Revelations level after finishing it. Treat the documented revisit sequence and unrestricted mission-by-mission replay as separate things.

How long is the expansion?
Xbox Wire’s July 1, 2026 preview estimated 10–12 hours. That figure came from a virtual presentation and Q&A with Hugo Martin; it is a preview estimate, not a guaranteed or independently measured completion time. Actual playtime may vary with pace and how much optional challenge content you pursue.

The standalone DLC requires the base game. Bethesda lists Revelations as included with the Premium Edition and Collector’s Bundle, and says owners of those editions receive it; players with the base game can purchase the DLC separately or upgrade. Edition availability and storefront prices can change, so check the listing for your platform before buying.
Best Value
Bethesda and id Software announced launch-era US prices on July 7, 2026: $19.99 for standalone Revelations and $34.99 for the Premium Edition upgrade. These are dated announcement prices, not a guarantee of the current price in every region or storefront.
Bethesda’s Collector’s Bundle listing describes a 12-inch DOOM Slayer statue, replica Red Key Card, SteelBook, game, DLC, digital artbook and soundtrack, and skin pack. The official Bethesda Gear Store listing showed the bundle out of stock on October 4, 2026, so its availability should not be assumed.
