Sometimes. Microsoft Teams is included with some Office 365 and Microsoft 365 plans, but not all. The exact subscription SKU, region, and—for certain enterprise plans—whether you are a new or existing customer determine whether Teams is included or must be licensed separately.
Which plans include Teams?
Microsoft’s plan comparison lists Teams as included with Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, and Business Premium, as well as the displayed E3 and E5 plans. Its selected-plan comparison also lists Teams with Office 365 E1, Microsoft 365 F1, and Microsoft 365 F3 or Office 365 F3. Microsoft 365 Apps is listed without Teams. Check the Microsoft 365 plan comparison for the current offer and your region; a plan-family name alone may not identify the exact SKU.
Business suites are offered in versions with and without Teams. Confirm that the specific Business SKU you are buying includes Teams rather than assuming that every version of a plan does. Microsoft’s Teams business-options comparison distinguishes the available business offerings.

Enterprise licensing differs for new customers. Outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, since April 1, 2024, a new Enterprise customer seeking both Teams and the services in an E1, E3, or E5 suite must purchase a no-Teams version of that suite and a separate Microsoft Teams Enterprise license. In the EEA and Switzerland, the change took effect October 1, 2023: the corresponding options are an Office 365 EEA suite without Teams and Microsoft Teams EEA. See Microsoft’s Teams add-on licensing guidance and the Microsoft Product Terms for the applicable licensing terms.

Microsoft says Teams-included Office 365 E1/E3/E5 and Microsoft 365 E3/E5 Enterprise suites are no longer available for purchase by new customers. That restriction does not mean that all existing subscribers lost Teams: it describes new purchases, not a universal change to every current subscription.
Do existing Enterprise subscribers have to switch?
No. Microsoft says Enterprise customers who subscribed to a Teams-included Microsoft 365 or Office 365 suite before April 1, 2024 can continue using, renewing, upgrading, and otherwise adjusting that subscription. The date and eligibility matter: this allowance applies to customers who already had a Teams-included Enterprise suite before the change, not to every new Enterprise purchase.

What if Teams is missing from your subscription?
Check the subscription’s exact name and SKU in your Microsoft account or ask your organization’s administrator to verify the assigned licenses. Then compare that SKU with Microsoft’s current plan listing. For an Enterprise purchase, also establish the customer’s region and whether it is a new purchase or an existing Teams-included subscription. A no-Teams suite may require a separate Teams license; a missing app or license assignment does not, by itself, prove that every user on the organization’s plan must buy Teams separately.

Teams Essentials is a standalone, meeting-focused option for small and medium-sized businesses; it is not interchangeable with a full Office 365 or Microsoft 365 suite. Microsoft presents Business Standard as a broader option with apps such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, business email-domain capability, and Exchange calendar integration. For enterprise customers, Microsoft also offers Teams Enterprise as a standalone license. Compare the services you need, not just whether the word “Teams” appears in a plan name.
