No. Google does not support Pixel Watch 4 with an iPhone. Google’s compatibility guidance states, “Important: iPhones aren’t supported.” Pixel Watch 4 is designed to be set up and managed with a compatible Android phone, the Google Pixel Watch app and a Google Account.
If you plan to keep using an iPhone, Pixel Watch 4 is not a supported choice. If you are prepared to use Android, check the phone, app, region and—if applicable—cellular requirements before buying.
Pixel Watch 4 compatibility at a glance
| Phone or feature | What Google’s documentation establishes | What that means for you |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone | iPhones are not supported. | There is no documented, supported iPhone setup path for Pixel Watch 4. |
| Android phone | Pixel Watch 4 works with most phones running Android 11.0 or newer. | Android 11 is the minimum listed operating-system version, but the wording “most phones” means the version number alone is not a complete compatibility guarantee. |
| Google Account | Required for the watch setup and companion experience. | You need an account you can use on the compatible Android phone. |
| Google Pixel Watch app | Required. | The app must be available in your region and installed on the Android phone used for pairing. |
| Bluetooth, internet and location | Google’s setup instructions call for an internet-connected phone, Bluetooth and location permissions. | Have these ready before beginning setup and keep the watch near the phone while pairing. |
| LTE service | Cellular support depends on the watch model, region, carrier and service plan. | Verify local and carrier support separately; an LTE model does not remove the Android-phone requirement. |
The Android 11.0 figure is a compatibility threshold, not a statistic about how many phones work. Google does not promise that every Android handset running that version will be compatible.

Pixel Watch 4 relies on Google’s Android companion setup. Google’s compatibility page explicitly excludes iPhones, while the technical specifications identify Android 11.0 or newer as the supported phone platform. The Google Pixel Watch app and Google Account are part of that supported setup.

This is different from a watch merely having Bluetooth hardware. Bluetooth can connect many kinds of devices, but a supported smartwatch relationship also requires the companion app, account services, permissions, firmware handling and ongoing device management. The official Pixel Watch instructions describe pairing with a compatible Android phone, not with iOS.
Consequently, an iPhone owner should not treat Pixel Watch 4 as an iPhone accessory. The documented compatibility boundary applies to initial setup and to the normal companion relationship after setup.
Can Bluetooth pairing make Pixel Watch 4 work with an iPhone?
Not according to Google’s supported guidance. Google says iPhones are unsupported, and its setup instructions do not provide an iPhone pairing procedure. The available documentation also does not establish an unofficial Bluetooth workaround.
A Bluetooth menu may show nearby hardware, but that observation would not demonstrate that Pixel Watch 4 can complete setup, receive software updates, synchronize data or expose its normal controls through an iPhone. Those functions depend on the companion system, not only on a radio connection.

For a dependable setup, use the platform Google documents: an Android 11.0-or-newer phone that falls within the “most phones” compatibility description. If you keep an iPhone as your only phone, select a watch whose manufacturer explicitly documents iPhone support instead of relying on an unsupported pairing attempt.
What you need to set up Pixel Watch 4 with Android
A compatible Android phone
The phone must run Android 11.0 or newer. Because Google says “most phones,” check the specific handset rather than assuming that every Android 11-or-newer model qualifies. Manufacturer software, regional availability and model differences can affect compatibility.
The Google Pixel Watch app
Google lists the Google Pixel Watch app as a requirement. Confirm that the app is available in your country or region and that the Android phone can install and update it. App availability can change independently of the watch hardware.
A Google Account
A Google Account is required. Use an account you can access during setup; account sign-in is part of the documented companion arrangement.

- Precision-crafted to do it all: The Google Pixel Watch 5 features the domed Actua 360 display with scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and up to 40 hours of battery life[1,5]
- Metrics that matter: Advanced sensors help you stay ahead of your health and wellness; and Google Pixel’s most accurate heart rate tracking is fine-tuned for your activity[6,7]
- Understand your sleep like never before: Your watch captures insights like the time spent in sleep stages to breathing regularity, then summarizes it all in a personalized Sleep Score[8,9]
- Detects loss of pulse, then calls for help: Pixel Watch 5 is the only smartwatch to feature Loss of Pulse Detection, which can prompt a call to emergency services[10]
Connection and permissions
Google’s setup instructions call for an internet-connected phone, Bluetooth enabled and location permissions. Keep the phone and watch close together while pairing. These are setup prerequisites, not optional extras to add after the connection fails.
How to set up Pixel Watch 4 with a compatible Android phone
- Confirm the platform first. Check that the phone is running Android 11.0 or newer and is one of the handset types covered by Google’s “most phones” wording. If the phone is an iPhone, stop here: it is not a supported companion.
- Prepare the account and app. Sign in to the Google Account you intend to use and install the Google Pixel Watch app on the Android phone. If the app cannot be found in your region, investigate availability before opening the watch box or beginning setup.
- Connect the phone. Put the Android phone on an internet connection, turn on Bluetooth and allow the location permission requested by the setup process.
- Start pairing nearby. Keep the watch near the compatible Android phone and follow the prompts in the Google Pixel Watch app. The official instructions describe this nearby-phone pairing flow; they do not describe an iPhone flow.
- Complete the account and device prompts. Continue through the app’s sign-in and watch configuration screens. Keep the phone connected while the app completes the setup sequence.
- Check service-specific features. If you bought an LTE model, verify that cellular service is supported for that model in your region and by your carrier, with an eligible plan. Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE are separate model and service configurations.
The exact screens can change as Google updates the app. The stable requirements are the Android platform, Google Account, Pixel Watch app, internet connection, Bluetooth and location access described above.
Android compatibility is more than the version number
Android 11.0 or newer is the published minimum, but it should be treated as the first check, not the final answer. Google’s specifications say “most phones,” which intentionally leaves room for handset-specific exclusions. Before purchase, verify four items:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- The exact phone model, not just its Android version.
- Whether the Google Pixel Watch app is available for that phone and in your region.
- Whether the phone can maintain the required Bluetooth, internet and location permissions.
- Whether your intended LTE carrier and plan support the watch model in your location.
If any of these checks is uncertain, Google’s current compatibility and regional-availability guidance is the authoritative place to confirm the details before spending money.

Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE models: what changes and what does not
Google distinguishes Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE versions of Pixel Watch 4. The radio configuration affects how the watch can use cellular service, but it does not turn an iPhone into a supported companion phone. Both model types still require the documented Android setup.
LTE availability is conditional. Carrier approval, country or region, the watch variant and a compatible service plan can all matter. A watch may be technically capable of cellular connections while a particular carrier or plan does not support activation. Check those conditions separately from the phone-platform question.
Regional availability also affects the watch and the companion app. A model or service offered in one market may not be offered in another, so do not generalize a result from a different country.
Choose the right path before you buy
| Your situation | Suitable path | Checks to make |
|---|---|---|
| You will continue using an iPhone as your phone. | Do not choose Pixel Watch 4 for that phone. | Look for a smartwatch whose manufacturer explicitly documents iPhone compatibility. |
| You are willing to use Android. | Use Pixel Watch 4 with a compatible Android phone. | Confirm Android 11.0 or newer, specific-handset eligibility, app availability and account access. |
| You want cellular independence. | Consider the LTE version only after confirming service support. | Check region, carrier, watch model and plan; LTE does not change the Android requirement. |
| You are replacing or sharing phones. | Plan the watch around the Android phone that will actually manage it. | Do not assume an iPhone can substitute for the Android companion during setup or later management. |
The key decision is the phone platform you intend to use every day. Pixel Watch 4 makes sense only when that platform is a supported Android configuration.

Troubleshooting a failed Android setup
The phone meets Android 11 but the app will not install
Android version alone is not sufficient evidence of support. Check the exact handset, your region and whether the Google Pixel Watch app is offered there. If the app is unavailable, the documented setup cannot proceed on that phone.
The watch is not found during pairing
Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled, the phone has an internet connection and the required location permission is allowed. Keep the watch close to the phone and retry through the Google Pixel Watch app rather than relying on the phone’s generic Bluetooth settings.
You are trying to start with an iPhone
There is no supported repair step for that configuration. The documented remedy is to use a compatible Android phone; changing Bluetooth settings on the iPhone does not establish support.
LTE activation is unavailable
Separate the pairing problem from the cellular-service problem. First complete the Android setup, then confirm that the watch model, region, carrier and service plan support LTE activation. Cellular eligibility can fail even when basic watch pairing succeeds.
What Google does—and does not—promise
Google’s published material establishes a clear supported combination: Pixel Watch 4, most Android phones on Android 11.0 or newer, the Google Pixel Watch app, a Google Account and the listed setup permissions and connections. It does not publish a supported iPhone method, a Bluetooth-only workaround or a universal guarantee for every Android handset.
Compatibility, app availability, regional sales and carrier support can change. Recheck Google’s current Pixel Watch compatibility, specifications and setup pages immediately before purchase or activation, especially if you are buying an LTE model or using a phone from a less common manufacturer.
