No—Acura’s new Gemini assistant does not mean the ADX is dropping Apple CarPlay. Acura lists wireless Apple CarPlay on every 2026 US ADX trim. Google built-in, the in-car platform associated with the assistant, is limited to the A-Spec Advance in the US specifications. Acura Canada announced Gemini for select ADX models equipped with Google built-in, but that announcement does not say Gemini replaces CarPlay.
Does the Acura ADX have Apple CarPlay and Google Gemini?
They are not mutually exclusive. In Acura’s 2026 US specifications, wireless Apple CarPlay is listed across the ADX, A-Spec, and A-Spec Advance trims. Google built-in appears only on the A-Spec Advance. Separately, Acura Canada announced on July 30, 2026, that Google Gemini is being added to Acura vehicles with Google built-in, including select ADX models. That is a Canadian announcement; it does not establish a US Gemini rollout date or identify the exact ADX model years included.
So the headline question has a straightforward answer: Gemini may give eligible drivers another way to interact with the car, but the cited specifications show CarPlay remains available. The announcement does not say the assistant replaces CarPlay.

What changes by model year, trim, and country?
Availability differs between the US and Canadian specifications, so check the vehicle’s market and exact trim rather than assuming one country’s equipment list applies everywhere.

Trim names are market-specific: the US A-Spec Advance and Canadian Platinum Elite A-Spec are not interchangeable labels. Use the applicable country’s equipment list and the vehicle’s own documentation to confirm what is fitted.
What do Google built-in, Google Assistant, and Gemini mean?
- Google built-in is the in-car platform. Acura says it includes Google Maps and access to apps on Google Play.
- Google Assistant is the assistant Acura described in its 2025 ADX press kit for compatible vehicles. It can handle tasks such as calls, texts, reminders, climate adjustments, navigation, nearby-place searches, and media control through supported apps.
- Google Gemini is the assistant upgrade Acura Canada announced for vehicles equipped with Google built-in. Acura describes more conversational interaction and context across multiple exchanges.
These terms refer to related but distinct things: a vehicle platform, an earlier assistant, and an announced assistant upgrade. Acura’s Canadian announcement does not establish that Gemini is available in every ADX with Google built-in, nor does it say the upgrade removes Apple CarPlay.

Could the built-in assistant replace your CarPlay routine?
That depends on which tasks you use and whether your specific ADX has Google built-in and receives the Gemini upgrade. Acura describes Google Assistant handling voice requests for calls and texts, reminders, cabin temperature, destinations, nearby places, and media in supported apps. Google built-in also provides Google Maps and access to apps through Google Play.

Those capabilities give eligible drivers options without necessarily connecting a phone for every task. But the available manufacturer information does not provide a controlled comparison with CarPlay, or establish how the systems differ in response time, reliability, privacy, or performance in real driving. It also does not establish that every app or request works equally well in every situation. Treat the listed functions as manufacturer-described capabilities, not a guarantee that the assistant will replace the CarPlay features you personally rely on.

What to verify before deciding
- Identify the market and model year. US and Canadian specifications use different trim names and may list different equipment.
- Confirm the trim and Google built-in equipment. In the cited 2026 US specifications, Google built-in is listed only for A-Spec Advance. The Canadian specifications list it for Platinum Elite A-Spec.
- Check Gemini eligibility separately. Acura Canada’s announcement covers select ADX models equipped with Google built-in, but does not give an exact model-year list. The cited sources do not establish a US rollout date.
- Keep your CarPlay needs in view. The cited 2026 US specifications list wireless CarPlay on every trim; the Canadian specifications list wired and wireless CarPlay across trims.
- Verify connectivity terms for the exact vehicle. Acura’s 2025 US press kit describes a complimentary three-year unlimited data plan for the specified Google-built-in version. That model-year-specific statement is not a guarantee of current terms, coverage, or service for other vehicles.
