The Xbox store identifies Liquid Swords as Samson’s developer and publisher and gives September 21, 2026 as the release date. It lists PC, Xbox Series X|S and handheld among the supported devices, alongside the single-player, Xbox cloud saves and Xbox Play Anywhere features.
How Samson cross-save works
Xbox console to Windows PC
Samson’s confirmed cross-save route is the Xbox ecosystem: an Xbox Series X|S copy and the Windows PC version that carries the Xbox Play Anywhere designation. Microsoft’s Play Anywhere documentation describes the program as combining a shared entitlement with cross-progression. In practical terms, a supported game can recognize the same account’s progress on an Xbox console and on Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC.
The save is associated with your Xbox identity rather than with two unrelated local files that you manually copy. Sign in to the same Microsoft/Xbox account on both devices, use the supported Xbox/Windows edition, and let the console or PC connect to Xbox services so the current save can synchronize. The Xbox listing’s “Xbox cloud saves” entry is the title-specific confirmation that Samson participates in that save system.

What Play Anywhere can carry
Microsoft says Play Anywhere supports roaming progress, add-ons, achievements and related entitlements between supported versions. That is broader than merely copying a checkpoint: the program is intended to keep the supported Xbox and Windows releases aligned under one purchase and account. The exact Samson content included in each entitlement is governed by the live store listing and the edition you own, so do not assume that a separate Steam purchase or an unrelated add-on is covered.
Account and edition requirements
- Use one Microsoft/Xbox account on the console and Windows PC.
- Install the Xbox Play Anywhere version, not a different PC storefront build, when you need Xbox-to-PC continuity.
- Keep the game connected long enough for the save to upload on the device where you played and download on the device where you continue.
- Make sure both devices are running supported versions of the game and the operating system. Microsoft’s Play Anywhere documentation covers Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC versions.
- Do not treat the word “PC” alone as proof of cross-save: Samson is also listed on Steam, which uses a separate cloud-save service.
How to continue an Xbox save on PC
- Finish or pause your session on Xbox while online. Exit through the game’s normal save and quit process rather than powering off during a save operation. The purpose is to give Xbox cloud saves a current local file to synchronize.
- Confirm the account. On the Windows machine, sign in to the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store with the same Microsoft account used on the Xbox console. A different account can make the PC appear to have no progress even when the console save is intact.
- Install the correct listing. Choose the Windows version marked Xbox Play Anywhere. The Play Anywhere label is the relevant entitlement indicator; a generic PC listing from another storefront is not interchangeable for this purpose.
- Launch while connected. Start Samson with an internet connection so Xbox services can retrieve the cloud save. Allow synchronization to complete before beginning a new game or creating another save.
- Verify the profile and progress. Check that the game shows the expected character, chapter or checkpoint. If it opens as a fresh game, stop before overwriting anything and work through the account and edition checks in the troubleshooting section.
- Return to Xbox the same way. Save and exit on PC, then launch Samson on the Xbox console under the same account. The PC session should be available through Xbox cloud saves once synchronization has completed.
Play Anywhere does not make every PC installation part of the Xbox ecosystem. The cross-save promise applies to supported Xbox and Windows versions. A Steam installation can have its own synchronized Steam save while remaining outside the Xbox save pool.
What happens if you buy Samson on Steam?
Steam lists Samson as a single-player PC game with Steam Cloud and controller support. Steam Cloud is useful when moving the Steam installation between compatible Steam devices, but it is a different service from Xbox cloud saves. The listing does not establish an automatic bridge between a Steam save and an Xbox console or Xbox Play Anywhere save.

There is also no stated developer account-sync system that would merge Steam progress with Xbox progress. Unless Liquid Swords publishes a separate cross-platform account feature, treat the Steam and Xbox/Windows save systems as separate. Buying the Steam version therefore should not be presented as a way to continue an Xbox save, and buying the Xbox Play Anywhere version should not be presented as a way to import a Steam save.
Is Samson cross-play?
No advertised multiplayer cross-play feature applies to Samson. The Xbox store labels the game Single player, and Steam likewise lists it as single-player. Cross-play normally lets players on different platforms enter the same multiplayer match or cooperative session. A single-player game has no such shared session, so there is no Xbox-versus-PC matchmaking feature to enable, no cross-play toggle to find and no friend invite that joins another player’s campaign.
This is different from cross-save. You can move one person’s progress between supported devices without ever playing with another person. Samson’s Play Anywhere support addresses that individual progression; it does not turn the game into a multiplayer title.

Xbox Cloud Gaming: why cloud saves are not streaming
Two different uses of “cloud”
Xbox cloud saves store and synchronize save data through Xbox services. They allow a supported game to resume progress on another supported device signed in to the same account. The console or PC still runs the game locally.
Xbox Cloud Gaming runs a game on Microsoft’s remote hardware and streams the video and audio to your device. It is a catalog and licensing question, not a consequence of having cloud saves. A store page can list cloud saves without offering any streaming capability.
What is confirmed for Samson
The reviewed official Xbox listing confirms Xbox cloud saves and Xbox Play Anywhere, but it does not show a Cloud Gaming capability for Samson. That means streaming is currently unconfirmed, not something you should infer from the word “cloud.” The listing also does not establish that Samson is included with any Xbox subscription tier.

How to check before relying on streaming
- Open the live Xbox Cloud Gaming catalog or its current game-search interface.
- Search for “Samson” after the game’s September 21, 2026 release.
- Check the title’s current product card for a playable cloud-streaming option, rather than relying on the Xbox cloud-save icon on the store page.
- If you plan to use a subscription, verify both that Samson is in the catalog for your region and that your subscription tier grants cloud access. Catalog membership and regional availability can change independently of the game’s Play Anywhere status.
If Samson does not appear in the live catalog, you can still use Xbox cloud saves for local Xbox and Windows installations; those two features are independent.

Choose the Xbox/Windows route if your priority is moving one save between an Xbox console and a Windows PC. Choose Steam if your devices and library are centered on Steam and you only need Steam Cloud continuity. Neither route should be selected on the assumption that cloud saves automatically provide streamed play.

The PC starts a new game
- Stop before creating or saving new progress that could complicate the situation.
- Check that the Xbox app and Microsoft Store are using the same Microsoft account as the console.
- Confirm that you installed the Xbox Play Anywhere Windows listing, not the Steam version or another PC build.
- Reconnect to the internet, restart the Xbox app and game, and allow synchronization time before checking again.
The Xbox does not show a Steam save
This is expected from the published information. Steam Cloud and Xbox cloud saves are separate, and no developer-provided account bridge is stated. Continue on Xbox only from an Xbox/Windows Play Anywhere save unless Liquid Swords announces a separate import or synchronization feature.

You are looking for a cross-play setting
There is no multiplayer mode indicated in the listings, so there is no cross-play switch to activate. Confirm that you are reading the single-player edition information rather than expecting a co-op feature that has not been advertised.
You can see cloud saves but not a streaming option
That combination is normal. Cloud-save support does not imply Xbox Cloud Gaming support. Check the current Cloud Gaming catalog directly and verify regional and subscription conditions before assuming Samson can be streamed.
