Short answer: MaPC does not support games that require kernel-level anti-cheat on macOS. Its documentation specifically rules out Fortnite, Valorant, and many games using Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye. Other online multiplayer games can work, but only when that game’s client, launcher, anti-cheat configuration, network services, and terms permit MaPC’s compatibility layer. MaPC is a beta app, so neither multiplayer access nor performance is guaranteed for a particular title.
What MaPC is designed to do
MaPC is a beta macOS application for Apple silicon Macs. It connects libraries from Steam, Epic Games, and GOG, then runs compatible Windows games through a macOS compatibility layer. The principal supported graphics class is DirectX 9 through DirectX 11, translated with DXVK. That makes MaPC useful for many older and mid-generation Windows games, but it does not turn macOS into a fully compatible Windows gaming environment.
The current site listing identifies MaPC 1.0.6 Beta in October 2026. This release requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later and Rosetta 2. Intel Macs are not supported by the current beta. DirectX 12 support is experimental and requires the user to install Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit separately; a DX12 game therefore has an additional dependency beyond MaPC itself.

A title can render correctly and still reject its launcher, authentication process, anti-cheat driver, or online session.

Why kernel-level anti-cheat is the hard limit
Kernel-level anti-cheat operates with privileged access below the normal game process. On Windows, a game may install a kernel driver that starts with the operating system and monitors processes, memory, and other activity. A compatibility layer can translate game graphics and selected Windows APIs, but it cannot provide the same Windows kernel-driver environment inside macOS.
MaPC’s product documentation states: “Kernel anti-cheat games Fortnite, Valorant and many EAC or BattlEye titles can’t run on macOS at all.” Its terms similarly say that “Games with kernel-level anti-cheat can’t run on macOS.” For those games, changing a launch option, reinstalling the game, or adding a controller will not solve the underlying incompatibility.
- Fortnite: not supported through MaPC when the required anti-cheat configuration is present.
- Valorant: not supported through MaPC because its anti-cheat requires the Windows environment that macOS cannot provide.
- Many Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye games: not supported when the title uses their kernel-level or otherwise Windows-dependent configuration. The anti-cheat product name alone is not enough to predict compatibility; each game’s implementation matters.
“Easy Anti-Cheat” and “BattlEye” are not single, identical compatibility modes. A developer can enable different modules, permissions, and platform support. The practical rule is to check the individual game’s current macOS policy and MaPC reports rather than assuming every game using one of these systems behaves the same way.

Can MaPC play online multiplayer games?
Sometimes. MaPC can launch an online game only when all of the following parts accept the setup:
- the game executable and its Windows dependencies run through MaPC;
- the launcher can install, update, and authenticate the game;
- the game’s anti-cheat permits the macOS compatibility environment;
- online services accept the client and its network behavior; and
- the publisher’s rules do not prohibit compatibility software.
Failure at any one of those layers can produce a game that starts but cannot sign in, joins a lobby but disconnects, or works after an update and then stops. MaPC does not publish a universal multiplayer guarantee. Its terms say, “We don’t promise that any particular game will run, or run well.”

What “works” should mean
For a multiplayer title, distinguish among four outcomes:
- Installs: the launcher downloads the files and completes setup.
- Launches: the game reaches its menu without an immediate compatibility or anti-cheat error.
- Connects: authentication, matchmaking, and a live session succeed.
- Remains permitted: the publisher continues to allow the setup after updates and does not treat it as a terms violation.
A report that a game “runs” may describe only the second step. Confirm all four before buying downloadable content, joining a competitive league, or moving an account from a supported system.
Fortnite, Valorant, and Easy Anti-Cheat: direct answers
Fortnite
MaPC is not a supported way to play Fortnite on an Apple silicon Mac when the game’s anti-cheat requirements are active. The title is named explicitly in MaPC’s documentation as an example of a kernel anti-cheat game that cannot run on macOS.
Valorant
Valorant is likewise not supported through MaPC. Its anti-cheat model requires Windows-level components that a macOS compatibility layer cannot load.
Games using Easy Anti-Cheat
There is no blanket “yes” for Easy Anti-Cheat. MaPC’s documentation says many EAC titles cannot run on macOS, particularly those requiring kernel-level components. A non-kernel configuration may behave differently, but the publisher’s implementation and current game update determine the result. Treat an EAC game as unconfirmed until its own support information and a current MaPC test show that authentication and online play work.

Games using BattlEye
The same qualification applies to BattlEye. MaPC identifies many BattlEye titles as unable to run on macOS, while the exact result depends on the title’s anti-cheat configuration and platform policy.

Meeting these requirements only establishes that MaPC can be installed and that a game falls within a potentially workable graphics path. It does not override an anti-cheat driver, a store restriction, or a publisher’s terms.
How to evaluate a multiplayer game before installing it
- Identify the game’s anti-cheat mode. Check the publisher’s current support information and the game’s launcher messages. Look for a kernel driver, a Windows-only service, or an explicit macOS exclusion.
- Check the graphics API. DirectX 9–11 is MaPC’s main supported range. Mark DirectX 12 as experimental and plan for the separately installed Game Porting Toolkit.
- Confirm the storefront path. MaPC connects Steam, Epic Games, and GOG libraries, but a launcher can still fail because of embedded browser, updater, authentication, or DRM dependencies.
- Use a low-risk test account if the publisher’s rules are unclear. Do not put a valuable competitive account at risk while you are establishing whether the setup is allowed.
- Test the complete session. Launch, sign in, enter matchmaking, complete a private or low-stakes session, reconnect after a restart, and verify that voice or party features required by your group function.
- Recheck after updates. An anti-cheat or launcher update can change compatibility without a MaPC update. Keep notes about the MaPC version, macOS version, and game build when reporting a result.
Do not infer online support from frame rate or a successful single-player menu. The meaningful test is a permitted, authenticated multiplayer session that survives a restart and the game’s normal update process.
Could using MaPC get an account banned?
There is a terms-of-service risk whenever a publisher does not support compatibility software. MaPC’s terms warn: “Some games and stores don’t allow compatibility software, and their anti-cheat or terms may lead to a game or an account being blocked or suspended.” That warning is not a prediction that every MaPC user will be banned; it means MaPC cannot guarantee that a publisher will accept the arrangement.
Anti-cheat detection and a terms violation are separate possibilities. A game may reject the client technically, or a publisher may prohibit the software even if a session appears to work. Competitive games with strict anti-cheat enforcement deserve the most caution. Review the current game and store rules before signing in, and avoid workarounds intended to conceal the compatibility layer.

MaPC’s refund and terms language also removes a common assumption: a purchase is not a promise that a particular game will work. If a game is essential to you, keep access to a supported Windows system or another officially supported platform rather than treating MaPC as a guaranteed replacement.
Controller support in multiplayer games
MaPC’s changelog documents support for DualShock 4, DualSense, and Backbone One PlayStation Edition controllers in games that support only Xbox controllers. This can solve input mapping for a compatible game, but it does not change anti-cheat, launcher, graphics, or account requirements.
- Pair or connect the controller in macOS before launching the game.
- Check whether the title detects it as an Xbox-style controller and whether button prompts match your layout.
- Test input in a private session before entering a ranked match.
- If the game sees no input, determine whether the failure is controller mapping or whether the game itself failed authentication; they require different fixes.

When MaPC is a sensible choice
MaPC is most reasonable for an Apple silicon Mac owner whose library is concentrated in DirectX 9–11 games, whose multiplayer titles do not require kernel-level anti-cheat, and who accepts beta software and game-by-game testing. It can consolidate Steam, Epic Games, and GOG libraries and may provide a convenient way to play compatible Windows releases without replacing the Mac.
It is a poor fit when your primary games are competitive kernel-anti-cheat titles, when uninterrupted ranked access matters, or when you cannot risk a store or publisher account being blocked. In those cases, use a platform officially supported by the game rather than relying on a compatibility layer that the publisher may reject.

MaPC supports some online multiplayer games, not multiplayer gaming as a category. DirectX 9–11 games are the practical starting point, while DirectX 12 remains experimental and needs Apple’s separately installed Game Porting Toolkit. Fortnite, Valorant, and many Easy Anti-Cheat or BattlEye games that use kernel-level protection cannot run through MaPC on macOS. For every other title, verify the anti-cheat implementation, launcher, network login, and terms of service, then test a complete session after each major update. MaPC’s beta status and terms mean that no individual game should be treated as guaranteed.

Does MaPC support kernel-level anti-cheat?
No. MaPC cannot provide the Windows kernel environment required by kernel-level anti-cheat, so games that depend on it are not supported on macOS through MaPC.
