A FourFourTwo report published July 7, 2026, relaying TEAMtalk reporting, said Real Madrid admired the Mexican midfielder, Barcelona had sent scouts, and Liverpool had made an exploratory approach. What the reports say about Gilberto Mora
FourFourTwo identified Mora as a Mexico international midfielder playing for Club Tijuana. Its July 7, 2026 report attributed the claims about the three clubs to TEAMtalk: Real Madrid were described as long-term admirers, Barcelona had sent scouts, and Liverpool had made an exploratory approach.
The report did not establish that any club had made a formal bid or reached an agreement with Tijuana. In particular, evidence that clubs are monitoring a player does not show that the player has chosen one of them.
Does Mora want to join Real Madrid?
That part of the headline remains unverified. The available report does not provide a direct statement from Mora confirming that Real Madrid is his preferred destination, and no public statement from Mora or the clubs establishing his preference is identified there. Phrases such as “dream come true” should not be treated as Mora’s own words without a verified direct quotation and clear attribution.

The most accurate reading is that Real Madrid were reported to admire him while Barcelona and Liverpool were also linked to him. Mora’s personal preference is not confirmed by that reporting.
What the reported contract and valuation mean
FourFourTwo reported that Mora had three years remaining on his Tijuana contract and was valued at more than €40 million. These are figures in that dated account, not confirmed current contract terms, a club asking price, or a completed transfer fee. The report does not establish that any of the three clubs agreed to pay that amount.

Timing and eligibility claims need care
The same FourFourTwo article said Mora was 17 and would turn 18 on October 14, 2026, and linked that date to FIFA rules on international moves. That is the article’s account, not a current eligibility determination. Transfer eligibility depends on the applicable rules and circumstances; this report alone is not enough to establish Mora’s present legal or transfer status.
How to distinguish a rumor from a confirmed transfer
For now, the claims should be treated as transfer reporting rather than confirmation. Stronger evidence would include a statement from Mora or an authorized club representative, an official club announcement, or reliable reporting that specifically establishes a formal bid or agreement. Scouting, admiration, and an exploratory approach are different levels of interest and should not be presented as equivalent to an offer.
