Not in the conventional casino sense. Funrize’s Terms of Use say the service does not offer real-money gambling. However, the terms allow for no-purchase promotional contests or giveaways that may award redeemable prizes. Participation does not guarantee a win or a payment; eligibility and the specific promotion rules apply.
How Funrize play differs from real-money gambling
Funrize’s Terms of Use & Service Agreement, updated March 6, 2026, says: “THIS WEBSITE AND THE SERVICES PROVIDED HEREIN DO NOT OFFER “REAL MONEY GAMBLING.” NO ACTUAL MONEY IS REQUIRED TO PLAY, AND THE SERVICE IS INTENDED FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY.” The terms describe virtual coins as a license to play; ordinary gameplay does not itself provide an opportunity to win cash or a prize.
The terms separately recognize that no-purchase promotional contests or giveaways may provide a chance to win a real-money prize. Those promotions are governed by their official rules and any additional terms. That distinction matters: a possible promotional prize is not the same as a guaranteed cash return for playing, and buying anything does not establish that a player will win.
How the no-purchase promotional entry works
Funrize’s Alternative Method of Promotion Entry page describes a mail-in route. It requires an active account and an entrant who meets the applicable eligibility conditions. The current instructions call for a handwritten request in a standard white #10 envelope and a handwritten 4-by-6-inch index card containing the listed information and statement.

For each valid and verified mail-in request, the instructions say the entrant receives one Promotional Entry or five Free Plays. These are entry or play amounts, not a statement about odds or a promised prize. Funrize says the instructions may change, and the rules in effect on the postmark date govern. Check the live page for the exact required wording, fields, and mailing address before sending anything.
The operator says a request may be rejected if it fails the eligibility or format requirements, is not handwritten as required, or contains details that do not match the entrant’s identity or address. The mailing must originate in the same state as the verified residential address.

Who can participate
Funrize’s terms require users to be over 21 or the higher applicable age of majority and list restricted territories. The terms say users in California, Indiana, Maine, and Maryland may access Tournament Points mode only. The mail-in page also lists excluded states, and its restrictions may have a different scope from the general terms. Check both official pages for your state and the specific promotion before participating.

In a February 4, 2026 cease-and-desist letter, the Illinois Gaming Board said it observed Funrize offering Illinois users games with opportunities to win cash, gift cards, and other prizes. The Board stated that Funrize had not been licensed or authorized by it to engage in online gambling activity, and demanded that the company block Illinois residents or stop offering prizes.

That is the Board’s position in a letter concerning Illinois. It is not a nationwide ruling or a court judgment. The distinction is important: Funrize’s terms characterize the service as entertainment rather than real-money gambling, while the Illinois regulator asserted that the prize offering to Illinois users violated state law.

The cited official terms and entry instructions do not establish a universal minimum cash-redemption balance, payment methods, identity-verification steps, or processing time. They also do not provide an independently verifiable win rate, payout rate, or typical payment turnaround. Consult the current official award rules and the redemption flow in your account for those details; do not rely on a figure unless the applicable rules state it.
