Short answer: not publicly confirmed. As of October 18, 2026, Castlebound has no announced Steam-to-Nintendo-Switch cross-save or cross-progression feature. Ogre Pixel has announced Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions for November 11, 2026, but its official announcement does not promise shared saves. Because the game has not launched yet, this is an unreleased-feature status, not proof that cross-save will never be added.
What is confirmed about Castlebound
Castlebound is scheduled to launch on November 11, 2026 for Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Ogre Pixel’s official Steam Community announcement describes the game as a 1–4-player action-platforming roguelite and says: “Castlebound is coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on November 11, 2026!”
That announcement identifies the platforms and launch date, but it does not describe a shared account, cross-save service, cross-progression, save transfer, or any process for moving a save between PC and Nintendo hardware. No Castlebound-specific setup instructions have been published for linking accounts or importing a save.

Why “not confirmed” is the accurate answer
A game can ship on several platforms without sharing progress between them. Cross-save normally requires a backend account or another deliberate synchronization system, plus rules for handling conflicting saves, downloadable content, platform entitlements, and offline play. A platform announcement alone does not establish that such a system exists.

Castlebound is unreleased at the date above. Developers often publish technical details in a later FAQ, store-page update, launch announcement, or patch note. Ogre Pixel could still announce cross-save before release, add it after launch, or decide that each platform keeps separate saves. The currently supportable conclusion is therefore limited to what has been announced: the feature is unconfirmed.
Cross-save, cross-progression, and cloud backup are different
Cross-save
Cross-save means a save created on one platform can be retrieved on another. In a typical implementation, you start on Steam, connect the same game account on Switch, and continue from the synchronized state. The exact behavior can vary: synchronization might be automatic, manual, or restricted to a one-time transfer.
Cross-progression
Cross-progression is a broader term. It can include campaign progress, characters, items, abilities, or other unlocks moving between platforms, but it does not automatically imply that every platform entitlement moves with them. A publisher may synchronize gameplay progress while leaving platform-specific achievements, purchases, or downloadable content separate.

Nintendo Switch Save Data Cloud Backup
Nintendo’s support documentation explains how to check whether an individual Switch game supports Save Data Cloud Backup and notes that a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for that service. Cloud Backup protects or restores a Switch console’s save through Nintendo’s service; it is not evidence that the same save can be read by a Steam installation.
In practical terms, a Switch cloud backup could help you recover Castlebound data on another compatible Switch console if the game supports the backup service. It would not, by itself, create a Steam-to-Switch synchronization link. That distinction matters even if Castlebound receives Switch cloud-backup support.

- Whether a separate Ogre Pixel account or another account-linking service will be required.
- Whether both the Steam and Nintendo versions must be purchased.
- Whether synchronization will be automatic or initiated from an in-game menu.
- Whether a save can be transferred in both directions or only from one platform to another.
- How the game will resolve two different saves created before an account is linked.
- Whether campaign progress, characters, inventory, unlocks, settings, or local multiplayer progress will synchronize.
- Whether achievements, Nintendo account records, Steam achievements, or other platform-specific milestones will carry over.
- Whether downloadable content, cosmetic purchases, or other entitlements will be shared.
- Whether Nintendo Switch Online will be needed for any cross-platform feature, beyond Nintendo’s separate cloud-backup requirement.
- Whether the Steam and Switch builds must be on the same patch before synchronization works.
- Whether offline progress can later be merged, and what happens when two devices are played without an internet connection.
These are open implementation questions, not hidden requirements that can be inferred from the announced platforms.

There is no official confirmation that you can. A player who buys Castlebound on Steam should plan on the possibility that the Steam save remains on Steam unless Ogre Pixel publishes a cross-save feature and instructions. Likewise, buying the Nintendo version should not be treated as a guaranteed continuation of a PC run.
This does not mean a second purchase would definitely produce two isolated experiences; it means the cross-platform outcome is not established before launch. If shared progress is essential to your purchase decision, wait for an explicit statement that names Steam and Nintendo Switch together and explains how the link works.

How to verify the feature when information changes
When Ogre Pixel publishes more details, look for a statement that answers all of the following rather than relying on a general phrase such as “available on multiple platforms.”
- Confirm the platforms named. The wording should explicitly include Steam and Nintendo Switch (and, if relevant, Nintendo Switch 2), not just say “cross-platform.”
- Identify the data covered. Check whether the feature includes saves only, or also characters, unlocks, inventory, achievements, and downloadable content.
- Read the account requirement. Determine whether you must create or link a publisher account, and whether one account can be connected to only one Steam or Nintendo account.
- Check purchase rules. Find out whether owning both platform copies is required and whether any content is platform-locked.
- Check version requirements. Look for a requirement that both installations use the same game version or patch.
- Understand conflict handling. A reliable guide should say what happens when two devices contain different saves and whether synchronization overwrites one of them.
- Check online and subscription requirements. Separate any internet or Nintendo Switch Online requirement for cloud backup from requirements for the game’s own cross-save service.
- Follow only the published procedure. Use the official game instructions or support page for the exact menu path; no Castlebound menu labels or transfer commands have been published yet.
What to do after launch if cross-save is announced
Before linking anything
- Update both installations to the versions specified by the developer.
- Back up the Switch save through Nintendo’s supported method if Castlebound is eligible and you have Nintendo Switch Online.
- Record which Steam and Nintendo accounts contain your existing progress.
- Read whether linking is reversible. Some account systems restrict changing the connected platform account.
During the first synchronization
- Start with the account that contains the progress you want to preserve.
- Use the official linking or sign-in flow rather than creating a second game account.
- Check the displayed save date, character, or progression information before accepting an overwrite prompt.
- Allow synchronization to finish while connected to the internet; do not close the game during a transfer.
- Open the game on the second platform and verify the expected progress before continuing to play there.
If the saves do not match
Stop playing on both devices until you know which copy is authoritative. Capture the exact account names, game versions, timestamps, and any error text, then consult Ogre Pixel’s official support guidance. Continuing to create new progress on both platforms can make a conflict harder to resolve. Nintendo’s cloud-backup tools can protect a Switch-side save where supported, but they cannot resolve a missing publisher-side cross-save link.
How the Nintendo cloud feature fits into the decision
Nintendo’s documentation provides a way to check a game’s Save Data Cloud Backup eligibility and states that Nintendo Switch Online is required. Treat that check as a separate console-backup question:

- Cloud backup asks: Can Nintendo restore this game’s Switch save to a compatible Switch console?
- Cross-save asks: Can the game’s service make that progress available to a Steam installation?
A “yes” to the first question does not answer the second. You would need an explicit Castlebound statement covering Steam and Nintendo versions before assuming that a Switch cloud-backed save can appear on PC.
Release timing and what could change
The announced November 11, 2026 release date gives players a clear point to recheck the game’s Steam page, Nintendo listing, official announcements, and support documentation. Feature policies can be published close to launch or changed in a post-launch update, so the absence of a pre-release promise should not be read as a permanent exclusion.
Until a source names the synchronization feature and explains its limits, the practical buying position is straightforward: treat Steam and Nintendo Switch saves as potentially separate, and do not pay for a second copy solely on the expectation that your progress will follow you. Revisit the decision when the developer documents the account, save, version, and entitlement rules.
Bottom line for prospective players
Castlebound is planned for Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on November 11, 2026, but no official source currently confirms Steam-to-Switch cross-save or cross-progression. Nintendo Switch Save Data Cloud Backup is a separate console-backup facility and does not establish PC synchronization.
