Short answer: Absolum’s iPhone and iPad edition supports complete touch control and explicitly lists compatibility with MFi controllers. The official material reviewed does not confirm that you can move, resize, or remap the on-screen buttons. On PC, the Steam edition has full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers, and the developers recommend using a controller. Android controller support and mobile button remapping remain undocumented.
The mobile edition is scheduled for November 5, 2026. Until it launches, some practical details—especially Android gamepad behavior and the availability of a touch-layout editor—cannot be verified from the published documentation.

What the mobile touch controls actually guarantee
iPhone and iPad use a dedicated touch interface
The Apple App Store listing describes a “revamped interface” with an “exclusive mobile UI with complete touch control.” That wording establishes that the mobile edition is designed to be played directly on a touchscreen rather than requiring a physical gamepad. It does not, by itself, describe how many virtual buttons appear, where they are placed, or whether their size and opacity can be changed.

Remapping is unconfirmed, not confirmed absent
No reviewed Absolum store page or Help Center article documents a control-layout editor, movable virtual buttons, button resizing, alternate touch presets, or a remapping menu. The accurate conclusion is therefore unconfirmed support. It would be too strong to say that remapping is definitely impossible, because an undocumented option could be added or exposed in a later build; it is equally unsafe to promise that the feature exists.

If custom layouts are essential—for example, to avoid covering part of the screen with your thumbs—plan on using the default arrangement unless the released app provides a clearly labeled control-customization screen. Check the in-game Settings or Controls area after installation, but do not assume that the presence of a mobile UI means its buttons are editable.
Using an external controller on iOS or iPadOS
What is explicitly supported
The same Apple App Store listing says Absolum is “Compatible with MFi controllers.” MFi means a controller certified for Apple devices. This is the strongest mobile gamepad statement in the available documentation and applies specifically to the iOS/iPadOS edition.
That statement supports choosing an MFi-compatible game controller for an iPhone or iPad if you prefer physical sticks and buttons. It does not identify a particular manufacturer or model, promise support for every Bluetooth gamepad, or specify whether every controller feature—such as vibration, headset audio, or button remapping in the controller’s own software—will work inside Absolum.
General pairing and first-launch checklist
- Put the MFi-compatible controller into its pairing mode using the controller maker’s instructions.
- On the iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Bluetooth and select the controller when it appears under available devices.
- Launch Absolum only after iOS reports that the controller is connected.
- Open the game’s controls or settings screen and verify movement, attack, dodge, and menu navigation before starting a run.
- If the game continues to display touch prompts, close and relaunch Absolum with the controller already connected, then test again.
These steps describe the normal Apple controller connection process; the published Absolum material does not provide a game-specific setup wizard or a list of supported MFi models.

When a controller is the better choice
A physical controller can keep your fingers away from the action area and avoid the precision limits of virtual buttons. It is particularly useful if you find the default touch placement uncomfortable or if your hands obscure enemies and hazards. Because remapping has not been confirmed, a controller is also the clearest workaround for players who need a different physical layout rather than merely a larger touchscreen.
What is known about Android controllers
Android release status
Playdigious states that Absolum will be available on mobile on November 5, 2026, with Android preregistration and iOS pre-order available. As of October 18, 2026, that date is still in the future, so Android controller behavior cannot be independently checked in the released mobile app.
Do not assume iOS compatibility transfers to Android
The MFi statement is an Apple-platform certification statement. The reviewed sources do not say that the Android edition accepts wired USB controllers, Bluetooth gamepads, Xbox-style pads, or any other Android input standard. Android support should therefore be treated as undocumented until Playdigious publishes a compatibility list or the released app identifies supported devices.
Android players who intend to use a gamepad should verify the store description and Help Center after launch, then test the exact phone, tablet, and controller combination. A controller pairing successfully with Android does not prove that Absolum will read its inputs; game-level support is still required.

PC and Steam controller support
Full controller support is listed
Steam marks Absolum as having “Full Controller Support,” names Xbox Controllers and PlayStation Controllers, and states that the developers recommend playing with a controller. This is a materially stronger guarantee than the current Android documentation and makes a gamepad the recommended input method on PC.
What the Steam label does—and does not—cover
“Full Controller Support” indicates that the game is intended to be playable with a controller rather than requiring a keyboard and mouse for essential actions. The Steam metadata does not document a touchscreen-button editor, which is not relevant to the PC edition, and it does not provide a complete button map or confirm that every third-party pad behaves identically.
Basic Steam setup
- Connect the Xbox or PlayStation controller to the computer by USB or through its supported wireless connection.
- Wait for the operating system and Steam to recognize the device before launching Absolum.
- Start Absolum from the Steam library and test movement, combat, pause, and menu controls.
- If the game does not respond, open Steam’s controller settings for the game and confirm that the intended device is enabled, then restart the title.
The recommendation to play with a controller comes from Steam’s developer metadata; it is not a claim that keyboard and mouse are unavailable.

Meeting the mobile operating-system and hardware requirements does not establish controller support. It only indicates that the device falls within the published compatibility range. Android users should also check the excluded-GPU list in the Help Center, because a recent Android version alone is not sufficient.

Choosing the right way to play
Choose touch controls when portability is the priority
On iPhone and iPad, the listing promises complete touch control, so you can play without carrying a separate accessory. This is the simplest option for short sessions and devices where a controller is unavailable. The trade-off is that the default layout may be the only documented layout; customizable placement has not been confirmed.
Choose an MFi controller on Apple devices when you need physical inputs
An MFi-compatible controller is the documented mobile gamepad path. It removes virtual buttons from the screen and gives you physical controls, but the listing does not promise universal Bluetooth compatibility or a particular model. Verify that the controller is recognized by iOS before opening the game.
Choose a controller on PC
Steam’s full-support label and the developer recommendation make an Xbox or PlayStation controller the documented PC choice. This is the platform with the clearest gamepad guidance in the available sources.

Because Android controller behavior is not documented, do not buy an accessory solely on the assumption that it will work with Absolum. Check the Android release notes, Help Center, or in-game controls screen after November 5, 2026.

Troubleshooting when controls do not behave as expected
The touch layout feels wrong
First look for a Controls, Input, or Accessibility section in the game settings. If there is no layout editor, the published documentation offers no supported method for moving or resizing the buttons. A compatible physical controller is the practical alternative on iOS/iPadOS; Android users must wait for platform-specific confirmation.
The iPhone or iPad does not detect the controller
- Confirm that the controller is MFi-compatible rather than merely advertised as a generic Bluetooth device.
- Reconnect it in Settings > Bluetooth before launching the game.
- Disconnect the controller from another nearby device, which may have claimed the connection.
- Restart the game after iOS shows the controller as connected.
These checks address the device connection. They cannot add game support that the developer has not documented.
An Android gamepad pairs but does nothing in Absolum
Pairing at the operating-system level is not proof of in-game support. Check for an official Android controller statement after release and test whether the game exposes a controller-input option. If no such information exists, the behavior remains undocumented rather than a confirmed defect.
The PC version shows the wrong prompts
Reconnect the intended Xbox or PlayStation controller before launching, then review Steam’s per-game controller settings. If input works but button icons differ from the physical pad, use the controller’s actual labels and verify every essential action in a practice area or safe menu.
What to verify after the mobile launch
When the mobile edition arrives on November 5, 2026, four checks will answer the remaining practical questions:
- Whether the iOS/iPadOS settings include a movable, resizable, or otherwise remappable touch layout.
- Which Android controller connection types are accepted and which devices are officially tested.
- Whether controller buttons can be remapped independently of the touchscreen layout.
- Whether later updates add accessibility or input options not present in the launch documentation.
Until those details are published, the defensible position is straightforward: touch play is confirmed on iOS/iPadOS, MFi controller use is confirmed there, PC controller support is confirmed through Steam, and mobile remapping plus Android gamepad support are not yet established.
