Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew is a new animated preschool series coming to CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in late 2027 or early 2028. The BBC’s first look confirms a 52-episode order, with each episode running 11 minutes, and introduces the Doctor’s companions Hannah, Beastie, and Toast-IE.
What is Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew?
Announced by BBC Children’s and Education on October 5, 2026, Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew is a preschool-targeted animated branch of the Whoniverse. It is designed as an introduction to Doctor Who for younger viewers, with the Doctor described in the announcement as a young Time Lord.
The stories follow the Doctor and friends aboard the TARDIS as they travel through time and space, encountering new creatures and worlds alongside familiar Doctor Who foes, including the Daleks. The BBC says the series will celebrate curiosity, courage, and kindness, and highlight friendship, teamwork, and quick thinking; those are the broadcaster’s stated aims.

How it fits into Doctor Who
This is a preschool animation for CBeebies, not an announcement of the next live-action Doctor Who series. The first-look page does not identify the Doctor as a numbered live-action incarnation or explain a connection to the current live-action storyline. It also does not name voice actors, list episode titles, or include a trailer, so those details remain unconfirmed.
The June update says BBC Studios will continue leading global distribution and licensing for Doctor Who on behalf of the BBC. That franchise-level information does not establish any particular release outside the announced CBeebies and BBC iPlayer window.
