Reddit explicitly bans intimate or sexually explicit images of a person shared without permission, including faked or AI-generated depictions, and bars requests to make deepfake or “lookalike” pornography of someone. That is not a ban on every form of AI-generated sexual content: Reddit names exceptions for consensual commercial media and fictional people or characters. For Pornhub, the available evidence does not verify an equivalent AI-specific rule or announcement. The Federal Trade Commission’s separate case involving Pornhub’s operator concerns alleged failures to prevent child sexual abuse material and non-consensual content, not an AI-porn policy.

What Reddit’s rule prohibits

Reddit’s Rule 3 policy on intimate or sexually explicit media prohibits sharing such media of a person when it was created or posted without that person’s permission. The policy expressly includes depictions that may be AI-generated or faked.

It also covers solicitation: posting someone’s image or video to fake explicit content or to request “lookalike” pornography, including deepfakes, violates the rule. The policy’s central concern is non-consensual sexual depiction of a person—not simply whether generative AI was used.

What the rule does not automatically ban

Reddit says the rule does not apply to commercial media distributed with the consent of the people depicted, or to AI-generated sexual media depicting fictional people or characters. Other Reddit rules may still apply, including rules concerning intellectual property. Those exceptions do not make it permissible to use a real person’s likeness in non-consensual sexual imagery.

What is established about Pornhub

Pornhub’s help center has an indexed Non-Consensual Content Policy, but its policy text could not be verified. The available evidence therefore does not establish the policy’s exact treatment of AI-generated imagery, its exceptions, or whether Pornhub made a matching announcement. It would be inaccurate to present a specific AI rule for Pornhub as confirmed here.

A separate FTC action provides context about accountability for content on Aylo’s sites, including Pornhub, but it is not evidence of an AI-specific Pornhub policy. On September 3, 2025, the FTC and Utah announced allegations that Aylo, formerly MindGeek, had not done enough to prevent child sexual abuse material and non-consensual material despite public claims that such content was prohibited. The FTC described a proposed order with requirements including a prevention program, checks that people appearing in content are adults and consented to the sexual conduct and publication, review and removal of older content pending verification, and privacy and security measures. The FTC identified the matter as allegations and a proposed order; its release says stipulated final orders take effect when approved and signed by a district court judge. The announcement should not be described as a final order without checking the court record.

FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Christopher Mufarrige said of the proposed order: “Pornhub’s operators will be required to take concrete steps to block this harmful content and ensure that those who appear in videos on their sites are consenting adults.” The statement concerns the proposed order’s response to harmful content generally; it is not a statement about AI-generated pornography in particular.

How to report non-consensual imagery on Reddit

Reddit’s help article, updated April 6, 2026, recommends reporting the specific post or comment that contains the image or threat, then choosing the Non-Consensual Intimate Media category. A general report that does not identify the relevant post or comment may be less direct.

  1. Open the post or comment containing the intimate image or threat.
  2. Use Reddit’s report option for that specific item.
  3. Select Non-Consensual Intimate Media as the report category.

Reddit also points adults to StopNCII.org, a free online tool, and lists crisis and support resources. Its help guidance does not promise a specific removal timeline.

U.S. legal removal requests under the Take It Down Act

Reddit’s U.S. Take It Down Act information page, updated October 1, 2026, says its legal complaint route covers non-consensual intimate imagery, including “lookalike,” digitally altered (deepfake), and AI-generated imagery. This is a legal-request path for people located in the United States, distinct from an ordinary in-platform report.

The page says a submission must include:

  • A contact email address
  • A full legal signature
  • A direct link to the content

Follow the page’s current instructions for sending the complaint. This summary is not legal advice, and submitting a request should not be treated as a guarantee of removal by a particular date.

How to read the headline accurately

“Pornhub, Reddit ban AI-generated fake porn videos” implies two matching, confirmed AI-specific announcements. The available evidence supports a narrower account: Reddit explicitly prohibits non-consensual intimate depictions of people even when faked or AI-generated, as well as requests for deepfake or lookalike pornography; its stated exceptions include consensual commercial content and fictional characters. For Pornhub, the specific AI policy wording has not been verified. The FTC’s Aylo matter is relevant to non-consensual content enforcement, but does not establish a Pornhub AI-porn ban.
