Yes, NVIDIA Game Filters can affect Warzone FPS, but there is no reliable universal figure for how much. NVIDIA describes Freestyle as post-processing applied while you play, but its documentation does not publish a Warzone-specific performance cost. The result depends on your PC, game scene, settings and chosen filter stack, so a repeated on/off test on your own system is the best way to decide whether the visual change is worth it.

What Game Filters do—and what is known about their FPS cost

NVIDIA Freestyle applies post-processing to supported games while they are running. NVIDIA Support describes options that alter color and saturation, as well as more dramatic effects such as HDR. These adjustments change how the image looks; NVIDIA does not give a measured FPS cost for Warzone or for individual filters. NVIDIA Freestyle support

NVIDIA’s Warzone performance guide explains that frame rates vary with PC components and what is happening in the game, and that graphics settings can trade image quality for performance. That is general guidance, not a benchmark of Freestyle. NVIDIA’s Warzone performance guide

So, filters may lower FPS, but the available evidence does not establish a typical penalty you can safely apply to every PC. The NVIDIA App and its Game Filter controls can also change across software versions; NVIDIA’s product information and release notes document the feature, not a quantified Warzone overhead.

Why reported results differ

Older player reports are inconsistent. In a 2022 discussion, one player reported 180 FPS without filters and 120 with them, while other participants said color and contrast adjustments made little or no difference. A 2020 post asked for filter settings that would reduce FPS impact. These are individual, uncontrolled accounts from older game versions—not current, comparable tests or a reliable estimate for your setup. 2022 Warzone discussion · 2020 Warzone discussion

Differences in hardware, resolution, in-game settings, game build, driver or NVIDIA App version, filter stack and gameplay scene can all complicate an on/off comparison. The sources do not isolate the effect of each factor, or show that a particular filter is always harmless or always costly.

How to test the impact on your PC

Compare the exact filters you want to use against filters off, changing nothing else. NVIDIA’s product materials describe an overlay that can report FPS and 1% lows. The repeatable procedure below is a practical way to compare your own runs, not an NVIDIA-published test protocol.

  1. Choose a repeatable Warzone mode and location or route. Keep the resolution, graphics settings, driver and NVIDIA App versions, and background workload steady.
  2. Turn Game Filters off and record average FPS and 1% lows during the same route or comparable gameplay interval.
  3. Enable the exact filter stack you plan to use and repeat the measurement under the same conditions.
  4. Run both conditions more than once, alternating off and on if practical. Compare like with like rather than relying on a single match or moment.
  5. If the difference is small relative to variation between repeated runs, collect more runs before attributing it to filters. Also compare whether the visual change improves visibility or is simply a matter of preference.

How to decide whether to keep filters on

Use your repeated results, not another player’s FPS drop, as the deciding evidence. If your chosen filters consistently reduce performance enough to matter to you, simplify or disable the stack and retest. If the measured change is negligible in your runs and you prefer the image, keeping them on is a reasonable choice. The right tradeoff depends on your priorities: frame rate, visual clarity and appearance.
