LG has not announced FM radio support for a new or future smartphone. Its official specifications confirm FM radio on some older models, including the LG V50 ThinQ 5G; the company’s newer LG Radio+ service is internet streaming for supported TVs and audio devices, not phone-based FM reception.
Which LG phones have FM radio?
LG’s official product information confirms FM radio on specific older phones, but that does not establish that every LG phone—or every regional or carrier variant of a model—has it.
- LG V50 ThinQ 5G: LG lists “FM Radio” among the phone’s specifications. See LG’s V50 ThinQ 5G specification.
- LG A180: LG advertised “One touch wireless FM radio” on this feature phone’s product page. See LG’s A180 page.
Both are legacy models. If you are checking a particular handset, confirm its exact model and regional or carrier variant against its documentation; a feature listed for one version should not be assumed for another.
Does an LG Stylus DAB+ receive FM?
The LG Stylus DAB+ is documented as a digital broadcast radio phone using DAB+, not as evidence that later LG smartphones universally support analog FM. LG Australia said the supplied headset acts as the antenna: connect it, open the Digital Radio feature, and scan for local stations. Details are in LG Australia’s Stylus DAB+ announcement.

Is LG adding FM radio to current or future phones?
No official future LG smartphone model, launch date, or region with newly added FM support is identified in the available official announcements. The claim in the title that LG is adding FM to current or future phones is therefore unconfirmed. LG’s documented phone examples are older products, not an announcement of a new smartphone lineup.
Is LG Radio+ the same as FM radio?
No. LG Radio+ is an internet-based audio streaming service, not over-the-air FM reception built into a phone. LG describes it as available on LG Smart TVs running webOS 6.0 and above and compatible audio devices. In June 2026, LG Electronics USA said the service added more than 850 live iHeartRadio stations, digital-only stations, and podcasts; see LG’s Radio+ information and its June 2026 announcement.

| Option | What it receives | Internet or mobile data | Antenna or headset |
|---|---|---|---|
| FM radio on a supported older LG phone | Analog FM broadcasts | FM reception itself does not use mobile data | Depends on the handset; check its instructions |
| LG Stylus DAB+ | DAB+ digital broadcasts | Broadcast reception, not internet streaming | LG says to plug in the supplied headset, which acts as the antenna |
| LG Radio+ | Online radio stations and audio content | Requires an internet connection | No broadcast antenna; it is a streaming service |
How to check whether your LG phone can play FM without data
- Identify the exact model and variant. Check the model number in the phone’s settings or on its label, then use documentation for that specific regional or carrier version.
- Look for an FM radio feature or app. An official specification or manual should explicitly identify FM radio. A radio app by itself does not prove that the phone has an FM receiver; it may stream audio over the internet.
- Check the headset requirement. Some phones use a wired headset as an antenna. Follow the instructions for the model rather than assuming reception will work without one.
- Test reception with mobile data disabled. If the documented radio feature still finds local stations, you are using broadcast reception rather than an internet stream. Streaming services, including LG Radio+, need internet access.
What to consider when looking for an older LG FM phone
The V50 ThinQ 5G and A180 are legacy devices, so availability may be limited to used or refurbished listings and may vary by region. Before buying one for radio use, verify the exact model variant, whether it is compatible with your local carriers if you also need cellular service, the condition of the headset or antenna connection, and whether the required software and radio app are present. A listing for the same model name alone does not guarantee that every version has identical features.
