What should you bring on a high-risk mission? In Modern Warfare 4’s Hajin DMZ, build your loadout around the mission objective, the route’s likely engagement distances, and a planned exit—not a supposed universal “best” setup. At the FOB, equip weapons and gear for the task, keep useful recovery or resupply items accessible in your backpack, and be ready to disengage when combat stops helping you. Rising threat, worsening radiation, and exposed extraction sites make a fast, deliberate exit part of the loadout plan.
What should I bring on a high-risk mission?
DMZ is a persistent extraction mode: operators loot, complete objectives, fight AI and rival Operators, then try to extract with their rewards. That makes a high-risk loadout less about carrying the most firepower and more about supporting the whole run: reach the objective, handle the contact it is likely to create, recover or resupply when needed, and get out. Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 DMZ guide covers the Hajin deployment loop, but does not publish a ranked weapon build or complete equipment-slot counts.
- Weapons: choose roles that cover the ranges expected along your route. Treat that as a planning choice, not an official ranking of specific guns.
- Objective support: prioritize gear and consumables that directly help with the required key, item, compound entry, Lieutenant hunt, or timed route.
- Recovery and resupply: keep useful items accessible when available. The guide names bandages, extra armor plates, and Ammo/Armor Field Upgrade boxes as backpack items that can be used or swapped.
- Exit plan: know where you intend to exfil and account for the time and exposure it will take to get there.
Use four questions to check whether a proposed setup fits: does it support the objective, cover the route’s likely sightlines, leave useful recovery or resupply options accessible, and avoid adding costs that make the exit harder? These are planning criteria drawn from the published mechanics, not tested loadout scores.
What do I need to do before I deploy?
Prepare at the FOB
Use the Stash/Loadout station at the Forward Operating Base to review stored loot and equip weapons and gear before infiltration. Keep the mission requirement in view while choosing: a setup for reaching and clearing a defended compound may not suit a route focused on retrieving an item and leaving quickly. The FOB also has a firing range where you can inspect and try weapons; the official guide identifies weapon rarity and attachments but does not compare specific builds.

Keep the active loadout and backpack distinct
The active loadout is what you deploy equipped with; the backpack carries items outside that loadout. Some eligible backpack contents, including consumables, extra plates, and Field Upgrade boxes, can be used or swapped into the active loadout during a deployment. The guide does not state complete slot capacities, so do not assume a particular number of weapon, gear, or backpack spaces.
How do I reduce threat on the approach?
Check the Tac-Map before entering a dangerous area. It can show mission objectives, threat areas, enemy compounds, key buildings, caches, radiation, nearby enemies, and pings. The HUD tracks local threat and operator or equipment status, giving you another cue to reassess as you move.

Combat raises threat as you engage increasingly capable enemies, and high threat can trigger hostile reinforcements. If a fight no longer advances the objective, break contact and take cover: the official guide says this reduces local threat. A restrained approach is especially useful when the mission is to collect something or pass through an area rather than clear every enemy.

For a defended compound
Compounds are heavily defended, but can offer improved loot and valuable intel. A loud approach or leaving the site unsecured may draw additional enemy forces. Scout and choose a controlled entry; once the mission condition is met, avoid extending the clear without a reason. The guide says stealth may be advantageous, but it does not establish that a particular attachment or weapon is required.

For a Lieutenant hunt
Lieutenants are durable, high-value targets with distinct combat behavior, so scout the area and decide before the fight whether the Dog Tag is actually part of your objective. Picking up a Lieutenant’s Dog Tag broadcasts the carrier’s position to every Operator. If you take it, change the plan immediately: prioritize a fast exfil rather than lingering to loot or pursue unrelated fights.
When should I leave the objective?
Leave when the required task is complete and the remaining benefit no longer justifies the exposure. Keep an eye on the radiation timer: it signals worsening conditions, so time spent lingering can make the route out more dangerous. Attention also has a cost. Filling the hostiles-kill meter dispatches a Hunt Squad and marks your squad for death; unnecessary engagements can therefore create a new threat while you are trying to leave.

Before pushing in, identify a viable exfil route and check it again as conditions change. A Lieutenant Dog Tag makes that urgency sharper because the carrier’s position is visible to every Operator; worsening radiation or rising threat can also change whether the original exit remains sensible.

No exfil should be treated as automatically safe. The standard sequence is to call the Twin Heli Exfil at an active site, hold the area until the helicopter arrives, and board. The call’s flares are loud and visible over long distances, and exfil sites can be ambush points. Check nearby threats and the route before triggering the call, arrive prepared to hold the point, and defend only as long as needed to board.
The guide also lists a Fulton balloon or Flare as alternate extraction methods, but its Part 1 coverage does not detail their precise availability or mission conditions. Do not build a plan around one without checking what is available in your deployment.
Which DMZ rules apply to this guide?
This advice is for Modern Warfare 4 DMZ in Hajin, based on Activision’s guide published October 5, 2026. It does not establish exact weapon recommendations, item stats, full slot counts, or a complete launch loadout catalog. Older guides for Warzone 2.0 DMZ describe a different edition and period; their gear counts or item behavior should not be assumed to apply to Modern Warfare 4. See Activision’s 2022 Warzone 2.0 DMZ overview for that historical ruleset, not as evidence of current Hajin mechanics.
