The DJI Power 1000 Mini is a portable 1,008 Wh power station built for travel, camping and mobile work—not sustained use of high-draw appliances. Its relatively compact 11.5 kg body, retractable 100 W USB-C cable and multiple charging routes make it appealing for creators, drone operators and travelers. The main trade-off is its 800 W continuous AC output, which rules out many kettles and heaters.

What is the DJI Power 1000 Mini?

DJI identifies the unit as model DYM1000M. Announced on April 20, 2026, it is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) portable power station with a typical capacity of 1,008 Wh. DJI positions it for camping, road trips and content creation, calling it the company’s most portable 1 kWh power station to date. Those are manufacturer descriptions, rather than independent comparisons of every competing model. DJI’s product announcement

Its best fit is someone who needs to charge laptops, cameras, drones, phones or other moderate-power gear away from an outlet. It is less suitable as a substitute for a higher-output home-backup station when the load includes appliances that draw more than its continuous AC limit.

How long does the DJI Power 1000 Mini last?

Runtime depends on the power draw of the connected devices, conversion losses and how the station is being used. The 1,008 Wh figure is stored energy, not a promise that 1,008 Wh will reach AC-powered devices. For a rough planning estimate, divide the station’s watt-hour capacity by the combined device wattage, then allow for losses and reserve capacity. For example, a 100 W load would imply about 10 hours before those deductions; actual runtime can be shorter.

The front display shows charge level, estimated runtime and live input or output, according to TechRadar’s review. The reviewer found it generally visible outdoors, though direct sunlight could wash it out. TechRadar’s review

DJI says the battery retains over 80% capacity after 4,000 cycles. Its stated test defined a cycle as a complete charge and discharge and used a 25 °C laboratory environment, Standard Mode recharging and a 400 W discharge to external devices. Treat this as a manufacturer test result, not a guarantee of the same lifespan under every real-world use pattern. DJI’s support FAQ

Can the DJI Power 1000 Mini run a kettle or heater?

It is not a good choice for appliances that need more than 800 W continuously. DJI also lists 1,000 W maximum output in some configurations, but maximum output is not the same as continuous output; higher bypass figures are region- and mode-dependent. Do not use those figures to assume that an appliance drawing more than 800 W can run normally from the battery.

TechRadar similarly identifies the 800 W continuous ceiling as the key limitation for high-draw appliances such as kettles and heaters. Its review considers laptops, drones, camera equipment, small appliances and mobile-workstation use better matches. Before connecting any appliance, check its rated draw and startup demand against the specifications for your regional model. TechRadar’s review

How can you recharge it?

The Mini supports several charging routes, but some require DJI-specific cables or compatible accessories. DJI lists AC input, USB-C input, vehicle charging and solar input through its built-in MPPT module. The supported methods and stated input limits are in DJI’s support FAQ.

Is it small and light enough to carry?

At approximately 11.5 kg and 314 × 212 × 216 mm, it is manageable for a 1 kWh-class station, but it is not a lightweight power bank. The dimensions suit packing into a vehicle or setting up at a campsite or work location; carrying it any distance still means lifting a substantial piece of equipment. TechRadar also describes its weight as manageable for a station of this capacity. TechRadar’s review

What does the review say about solar and car charging?

Solar panel performance depends on the setup

In TechRadar’s comparison, its tested DJI 200 W foldable panel was heavier and stiffer than expected, with fiddly support legs and connectors. Under the reviewer’s stated bright-sun test conditions, the Jackery SolarSaga 200 W produced over 200 W while DJI’s panel remained below a consistent 150 W. These are results from that reviewer’s setup, not a universal ranking: sunlight, panel orientation, sample variation and other conditions affect output. The results are a reason to compare compatible panels rather than automatically choosing a panel by brand.

Car-charging evidence is limited

TechRadar could not fully evaluate the car-battery charging accessory because its test vehicle was a Tesla Model Y, which does not support traditional alternator-based charging in the same way as a combustion vehicle. That review therefore does not establish how the accessory performs with a suitable combustion vehicle.

How useful are the SDC port and retractable cable?

SDC output for compatible equipment

DJI lists up to 300 W output through its SDC port and supports specific DJI drone fast-charge cables and certain car or model-aircraft accessories. Digital Camera World describes the connector as XT90-like and reports using an inexpensive adapter with standard XT60-equipped FPV drone batteries. That is the reviewer’s account, not DJI’s compatibility guarantee; use DJI’s documented accessories when supported charging and device compatibility matter. Retractable USB-C cable

The built-in cable can provide up to 100 W on its own. DJI says its retractable cable module is replaceable, but removing it requires a tool to open the cover and release the clips; it is not a tool-free swap. The cable module is also among the accessories DJI excludes from its default five-year warranty. Warranty terms may vary by market, so consult the local after-sales policy. DJI’s support FAQ

Can it act as a UPS?

DJI says UPS mode is enabled when the station and a connected device are receiving grid power and the AC output is switched on. The manufacturer states that the unit can begin powering connected devices within 0.01 seconds, based on a controlled laboratory test. That timing alone does not establish compatibility with every sensitive device; check the device maker’s requirements before relying on the Mini for uninterrupted power. DJI’s UPS guidance

How should you store and maintain it?

For long-term storage, DJI recommends keeping charge between 50% and 70%, ideally around 60%, checking the level every three to four months and recharging if needed. DJI also recommends a charge-and-discharge maintenance cycle roughly every six months and warns against storing the station fully discharged. DJI’s care guidance

Who should buy the DJI Power 1000 Mini?

  • Consider it if portability matters, your usual loads are laptops, phones, cameras or drones, and its AC and DJI SDC outputs suit your equipment.
  • Look at a higher-output station if you need to run high-draw appliances or want more headroom for home backup. TechRadar contrasts the Mini’s portability with the DJI Power 2000’s roughly doubled capacity, greater output and larger, heavier form for higher-load and home-backup scenarios. TechRadar’s comparison
  • Check regional specifications first if the number of AC outlets, outlet voltage or compatibility with an existing panel or cable will determine your purchase.
