The DJI Osmo 360 II is a measured upgrade, not a ground-up redesign. It adds 8K/60fps panoramic video, 4K/240fps slow motion and refinements to low-light shooting, but the clearest ownership improvement is its replaceable outer lenses. If lens damage is a concern, that repair route makes the second-generation camera easier to live with; if you already own the original, the video changes alone may not justify upgrading.
What’s new in the DJI Osmo 360 II?
DJI announced the Osmo 360 II globally on September 3, 2026. Its design and core purpose remain familiar: capture a 360-degree scene, then choose the framing later. The update concentrates on higher frame rates, low-light features and a lens design intended to make one common kind of damage easier to address.
| Feature | Osmo 360 II details | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Panoramic video | Up to 8K (7680 × 3840) at 60fps, according to DJI’s store specifications. | More frame-rate headroom for fast action and smoother motion, subject to the camera’s recording mode and workflow. |
| Slow motion | Up to 4K/240fps, according to DJI’s store specifications. | Useful for short, high-speed moments; it is a distinct mode from standard 8K recording. |
| Built-in storage | 105 GB, according to DJI’s launch announcement and store. | Provides internal recording space, alongside support for microSD storage. |
| Weight | 183 g, according to DJI. | A manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement. |
| Lens repair | DJI offers a lens replacement kit and procedure in its support guide. | The main practical ownership change: a damaged outer lens has a documented replacement route. |
Other announced features include a square HDR sensor system, AI SuperNight 2.0, Spotlight Follow subject tracking, NFC pairing with DJI Mimo, four microphones and a standard 1/4-inch thread. DJI also lists direct connections for several of its microphones. These features may suit particular workflows, but their value depends on how you shoot and edit.
How much better is the video?
The headline improvement is the move to 8K/60fps panoramic capture. DJI also lists 4K/240fps slow motion. TechRadar’s review describes the new model’s slow-motion jump from 4K/100fps to 4K/240fps, an additional stop of dynamic range and improved SuperNight performance. The reviewer characterizes the overall image-quality gain as modest rather than transformative.

That distinction matters: a higher frame-rate ceiling does not mean every clip will look better. The benefit is greatest when you specifically need slow motion or smoother capture. TechRadar also notes that SuperNight 2.0 cannot be combined with D-Log M, so buyers who prioritize a log-color workflow should account for that limitation.
Digital Camera World lists 16K timelapse and 8K/60fps among the additions, and reports that DJI Studio can interpolate frames in post-production. T3 likewise highlights Spotlight Follow and low-light improvements. These are reviewer-reported features and observations, not proof that the camera outperforms every rival in every scene. For a meaningful comparison, look at footage made in the modes you expect to use, especially for low light, color grading and fast movement.
Does the Osmo 360 II have replaceable lenses?
Yes. DJI documents an Osmo 360 II Lens Replacement Kit for replacing a scratched or damaged outer lens. The company says the revised lens design uses an ultra-hard optical film intended to improve resistance to scratches and wear. Its support guide explains the replacement procedure.

This is a useful, specific repairability improvement: a damaged outer lens need not automatically mean replacing or sending away the entire camera. It does not establish that the camera is broadly user-repairable. The available documentation supports lens replacement, not user servicing of the electronics, battery or enclosure.
Launch-period kit prices differ by market and publication: DPReview reported $30, while TechRadar reported £35 in the UK and AU$50 in Australia. T3 also reported a £35 UK retail price and said its kit included two lenses and tools. These are dated regional reports, not a universal or guaranteed current price; check DJI or a local retailer for present availability, price and kit contents.
How long does the battery last?
DJI claims up to 100 minutes of continuous 8K/30fps recording. The store says that figure comes from a test at 25°C with Wi-Fi, gesture control, voice control and the editing assistant turned off, and the screen off. DJI warns that actual battery life varies with use and conditions; its store information also notes temperature-related rules in the EU and UK. Treat 100 minutes as a controlled manufacturer figure, not a promise for every session.

DJI’s support guide lists up to 120 minutes with Endurance Mode. This is a separate mode and figure, not the same 8K/30fps test claim. DJI also says its Battery Extension Rod can extend runtime by 180 minutes, but the announcement does not establish a combined total under the same recording conditions. For long shoots, plan around your chosen mode and the actual conditions rather than adding these figures together.

DJI says the camera itself is waterproof to 10 m. However, the company warns that underwater recording without a case can affect 360-degree stitching quality. For underwater shooting, DJI recommends the separately sold Osmo 360 Invisible Waterproof Case, which it rates to 50 m. The bare-camera depth rating therefore should not be treated as a guarantee of seamless stitched footage underwater.
What are the storage, editing and accessory considerations?
Storage and file workflow
DJI lists 105 GB of built-in storage as well as microSD support. Its store describes OSV panoramic video and HEVC MP4 flat video, with transfers through DJI Mimo, USB-C or a card reader. DJI says HDR capture is the default rather than a separate shooting mode, with additional HDR editing features in Mimo or DJI Studio. The launch announcement also says DJI Studio exports can be imported into DaVinci Resolve using a plugin. Software support can change, so check current DJI documentation for compatibility with your phone, computer and editing software before buying.

Microphones and mounting
DJI lists direct OsmoAudio connections for Mic 3, Mic 2, Mic Mini 2S, Mic Mini 2 and Mic Mini. The camera also has a four-microphone array, dual-direction quick release and a 1/4-inch thread. If you plan to use a third-party microphone, mount or other accessory, confirm that the exact product and connection method are compatible rather than assuming that a standard thread guarantees a complete fit.
Combos and regional availability
DJI’s store lists different combo configurations, including diving, adventure and riding options, but bundle contents, stock and pricing vary by market. Reviews have also reported different regional launch pricing and US availability notes. Check the store for your country and compare the included accessories against your actual use; do not assume a bundle or price reported in another region applies to you.

Should original Osmo 360 owners upgrade?
For most owners, the upgrade decision comes down to whether the new capabilities solve a real problem. TechRadar’s comparison identifies the move from 4K/100fps to 4K/240fps, improved SuperNight performance and an additional stop of dynamic range, while judging the general image-quality improvement modest. The replaceable-lens design may be the more compelling reason to switch if you frequently shoot in situations where an outer lens could be damaged.

Before upgrading, compare the original and second-generation cameras using the factors that affect your own work:
- Repair route: The II has a documented outer-lens replacement kit; this evidence does not establish broader user repair.
- Recording modes: Decide whether 8K/60fps or 4K/240fps matters more to your footage than the modes available on your current camera.
- Low-light and color: Review footage from the modes you would actually use, including the SuperNight 2.0 and D-Log M trade-off.
- Water use: Consider the 10 m bare-camera rating alongside the stitching caveat and the separately sold 50 m case.
- Runtime: Compare battery claims for the exact mode and conditions you need, rather than relying on a headline maximum.
- System fit: Check accessories, microphones, storage and your phone or desktop editing workflow.
- Cost: Compare the camera and any required case, lens kit or bundle in your region, using current local pricing.
Verdict: Should you buy the DJI Osmo 360 II?
The Osmo 360 II is a sensible choice if you want a 360 camera with high-frame-rate options and value the ability to replace a damaged outer lens. Its video improvements are useful but evolutionary, so existing Osmo 360 owners should upgrade for a specific need—not simply because the model number is newer. If you shoot underwater, budget for the case when stitched footage quality matters, and check local pricing, bundle contents and accessory compatibility before ordering.
DJI Care Refresh is also available for the model, according to the launch announcement. DJI describes plans with up to two replacements in a one-year plan and up to four in a two-year plan, subject to terms. Eligibility, fees, exclusions and availability vary; verify the terms for your country with DJI. DJI’s support guide directs owners to warranty repair for non-user-caused malfunctions during the warranty period.
