Dinesh Karthik reportedly placed Virat Kohli’s 117 against New Zealand in the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinal fourth in a blind ranking of Kohli’s top five ODI centuries. That puts the innings outside Karthik’s reported top three, despite it being Kohli’s record-breaking 50th ODI century. The full ranking and Karthik’s reasoning have not been confirmed from the original clip.
Which Kohli century did Karthik reportedly rank fourth?
The reported No. 4 choice was Kohli’s 117 against New Zealand in the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinal. The listing says the innings fell outside the top three in Karthik’s blind ranking. It does not establish the full order or explain why he placed it fourth. Sportskeeda’s October 3, 2026 listing, attributed to Muck Rack, is the source for the reported placement; the original video or post was not available for independent confirmation.
What does “blind-ranking” mean here?
It describes a ranking exercise in which the entries are presented without identifying them, with the participant assigning positions before learning which innings each one represents. In this case, the available listing reports the fourth-place result but does not supply the reveal sequence, the complete five-entry ranking, or Karthik’s criteria. It would be speculation to say why he preferred other centuries.
How does this relate to the 2026 India–West Indies series?
The reported segment appeared amid India’s 2026 ODI series against West Indies. Cricbuzz published separate video listings of Karthik and Ajinkya Rahane discussing Kohli’s first ODI century, as well as a segment asking whether he could reach 100 international centuries. Those listings confirm that Kohli was a topic of series coverage, but they do not independently verify the blind-ranking result: Karthik and Rahane on Kohli’s first ODI century and the discussion of 100 international centuries. The BCCI also listed an interview with Kohli from the first IND vs WI 2026 ODI, dated September 27, 2026; it is evidence of official series video coverage, not of Karthik’s ranking: BCCI’s Kohli interview listing.

What is not confirmed about the ranking?
- The complete order of Karthik’s five selections.
- Why the 117 in the semifinal was placed fourth.
- Whether the report accurately reflects every detail of the original segment.
Without the original clip or post, those details should not be presented as established fact. The defensible takeaway is the reported No. 4 placement, not an inferred explanation or reconstructed list.

Kris Srikkanth’s separate ranking concerned Kohli centuries in run-chases, a narrower scope than a ranking of ODI centuries generally. It is a different exercise by a different person, and its order should not be attributed to Karthik. Sportskeeda’s report on Srikkanth’s run-chase ranking covers that separate list.
