Not according to the official releases reviewed: the documented U.S.–Israeli test on August 6, 2026, involved Arrow, a missile-defense system—not Iron Beam, Israel’s high-power laser. Israel reported separate Iron Beam tests and delivery to the IDF, but those releases do not identify U.S. participation.
What was tested jointly by the U.S. and Israel?
On August 6, 2026, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) said it and Israel’s Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) had completed a planned test of the Arrow Weapon System. MDA describes Arrow 2 and Arrow 3 as part of that system and Arrow as the top layer of Israel’s multi-layered defense. This was a missile-defense test, not an Iron Beam laser test. MDA’s August 6, 2026 announcement describes the joint event.
Iron Beam is a separate, ground-based high-power laser air-defense system. Israel’s Ministry of Defense described its development tests, first delivery and later integration exercises in releases that name Israeli organizations and companies, but do not identify U.S. participation. That does not establish that no other U.S. involvement exists; it means the cited official reports do not substantiate a joint U.S.–Israeli Iron Beam test.

What happened with Iron Beam?
The milestones distinguish prototype use, development testing, delivery and integration. They are not interchangeable evidence of operational scale or independently verified performance.

These descriptions come from official releases, not a comparable performance evaluation. The releases do not provide independently audited success rates, comparable engagement ranges, costs per engagement or environmental operating limits, so they cannot support a quantitative ranking or a claim that one system is a universal replacement for another.
What is known—and not known—about Iron Beam’s performance?
Israel’s Ministry of Defense says the system intercepted several types of targets during test scenarios. Those are official claims; the cited releases do not publish a full test dataset or independently audited results. The phrase “scores” in the May 2025 account is qualitative, and should not be treated as an exact interception count.

The ministry identified its Directorate of Defense Research & Development, the Israeli Air Force and Rafael as participants in the September trials, and said Elbit Systems manufactured the laser source. Its December delivery announcement called Rafael the primary contractor and also named Elbit Systems, SCD and Shafir Systems as industry partners.
