No. The widely shared letter supposedly sent by Sean Connery to Steve Jobs was fabricated satire, not evidence that Connery turned down an Apple advertisement. It appeared on the satirical site Scoopertino in 2011, even though the image presented it as a letter from December 1998.
What did the viral letter claim?
The image portrays Connery refusing Jobs’s alleged request to appear in an Apple ad. Its made-up text includes the lines “You are a computer salesman” and “I am f***ing JAMES BOND!” Those words belong to the fabricated letter; they are not a verified quotation from Connery. iMore, 9to5Mac, and PolitiFact identify the letter as fake.
Where did the letter come from?
The fictional letter appeared in a June 2011 story on Scoopertino, a site that publishes Apple-themed satire. The Drum described the site’s tagline as “All the news that’s fit to fabricate.” PolitiFact quoted Scoopertino’s description of itself as “an imaginary news organization devoted to ferreting out the most relevant stories in the world of Apple, whether or not they actually occurred.” The Drum and PolitiFact explain the satirical origin.

How did a satire become a viral claim?
The 2011 spread
Marketing executive John Willshire reposted the item on Twitter as if it were real. The Drum reported that thousands retweeted it before the mistake was corrected. Willshire later added a correction after learning the story was satire. The Drum and 9to5Mac recount the episode.

The 2020 resurgence
After Connery died in 2020, the image circulated again and was debunked by technology and fact-checking outlets, including iMore, 9to5Mac, India Today, and PolitiFact. Its return made the old joke look like a newly surfaced historical document, but the underlying source remained the 2011 satire. India Today also addressed the claim.

The evidence establishes that this particular viral letter is fictional and that its displayed 1998 date is not the date the text was published. It does not establish whether Connery and Jobs ever had any private contact of another kind. The claim that Connery rejected an Apple ad on the basis of this letter is unsupported.
