Samsung has reportedly raised U.S. list prices for the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra by $100 each, while leaving the S26 FE unchanged in the same update. The October 1, 2026 report covers those models—not every Samsung phone or every country—and the specific increases have not been confirmed in an official Samsung U.S. notice in the available evidence.
Did Samsung raise Galaxy S26 prices?
Yes, according to Tom’s Guide’s October 1, 2026 report. It says U.S. starting prices rose by $100 for the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra. The report says the S26 FE stayed at $699 in that update.
That scope matters: this is reported pricing for named S26 models in the United States, not evidence that every Samsung handset became more expensive worldwide. Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. price sheet lists launch-period prices and warns that prices may change without notice. Retailer, carrier and promotional prices can differ from list prices.
How much are the Galaxy S26 models?
The figures below are U.S. prices reported by Tom’s Guide on October 1, 2026. The 256GB launch figures are also listed in Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet; AP reported the base S26 and S26 Plus launch prices on February 25, 2026.

The S26 and S26 Plus launched at prices $100 above their comparable devices from the previous two years, according to AP. The Ultra’s $1,299 launch price was unchanged from its prior comparable model. The October report’s stated $100 increases therefore take the three listed 256GB models to $100 above their launch prices.

Why are Samsung phones getting more expensive?
Samsung’s July 30, 2026 Q2 results point to elevated component costs across the mobile industry and say the company expected component-cost pressure and memory supply constraints to continue in the second half of 2026. Samsung also described constrained memory supply amid strong demand from servers and AI-related markets. This is relevant market context, but it does not establish exactly how much any one factor contributed to the reported S26 price changes.
Samsung America Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Management Drew Blackard told Tom’s Guide that the company considers factors including custom processors, larger batteries, screen and camera technology, and AI features when setting prices. Tom’s Guide separately reported that Samsung mobile-business COO Won-Joon Choi cited memory shortages as making a “significant contribution” to higher prices, alongside tariffs and rising materials costs.

The pressure is broader than Samsung. Counterpoint Research estimated that global existing smartphone retail prices had risen 15% on average so far in 2026, while new smartphone launch prices were up 25% year over year. Those are market-level estimates, not measurements of Samsung’s price changes.

- Compare the exact configuration. Check the same model and storage tier at Samsung, retailers and carriers. A financing offer or promotion may depend on eligibility, a trade-in, a plan or other conditions; compare the final amount you will pay, not just the advertised monthly figure.
- Look at the Galaxy A series if you do not need a flagship. Reporting identifies A-series phones as a lower-priced alternative, and Samsung’s U.S. price sheet includes physical A-series models. Check current local availability and pricing rather than assuming a particular model or price is universal.
- Verify trade-in value before counting it as a discount. Samsung’s India purchase information says eligible exchange credit may apply to devices from other brands, but terms and availability vary by market. Check the official offer for your country and confirm the old device qualifies before calculating the net price.
- Compare upgrading with keeping your current phone. If it still meets your needs, weigh its remaining usefulness against the net cost of a replacement. This is a budgeting choice, not a prediction that phone prices will rise or fall.
When comparing offers, account for local taxes, currency, carrier terms, storage, trade-in eligibility and the total financing cost. A U.S. list price is not directly comparable with a price in another country.
