No confirmed Samsung commitment establishes that 1nm mass production will begin in 2026. The date came from a May 2024 report by TrendForce, which attributed the claim to Business Korea. Samsung’s public roadmap at the time put its distinct SF1.4 process on a 2027 target; later reporting describes another schedule revision, with SF1.4 in 2029 and 1nm-class production around 2030.
Where the 2026 claim came from
On May 29, 2024, TrendForce reported that Samsung might move its 1nm mass-production schedule from 2027 to 2026, citing Business Korea. That is an attributed media report about a possible schedule change—not an official Samsung announcement confirming a 2026 start date. The available coverage does not establish that Samsung began, or committed to begin, 1nm mass production in 2026. TrendForce’s May 2024 report
What Samsung’s official roadmap said
Samsung’s earlier public targets concerned SF1.4, its 1.4nm-class process, rather than the separate 1nm-class milestone in the 2024 report.

- In 2023, Samsung said SF1.4 mass production would begin in 2027 as planned. In the same roadmap, SF2 production was planned for mobile in 2025, high-performance computing in 2026, and automotive in 2027. These were plans, not evidence that production subsequently started on schedule. Samsung’s 2023 roadmap announcement
In June 2024, coverage of a public roadmap forum also said Samsung retained its 2027 target for 1.4nm production. That supports the distinction between the public SF1.4 target and the separately reported 1nm acceleration; it does not verify the 1nm claim. Newspim’s June 2024 coverage

How the reported schedule changed
| Date | Process milestone | What the source establishes |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 1.4nm in 2027 | Samsung announced a roadmap target. |
| 2023 | SF1.4 mass production in 2027 | Samsung said production would begin as planned. |
| May 2024 | 1nm mass production potentially moved from 2027 to 2026 | TrendForce attributed this possible change to Business Korea; it was not a Samsung-confirmed commitment. |
| June 2024 | SF1.4 in 2027 | Newspim coverage said the public 1.4nm target remained 2027. |
| August 2026 | SF1.4 in 2029; 1nm-class timing around 2030 | Tom’s Hardware reported a revised prospective roadmap. This is secondary reporting, not confirmation that production has begun. |
The later schedule was reported by Tom’s Hardware in August 2026. It changes the outlook reported in 2024, but remains a reported future schedule. The cited coverage does not establish a completed 1nm mass-production milestone.
Why 1nm and SF1.4 are not interchangeable
SF1.4 refers to Samsung’s 1.4nm-class process designation. The May 2024 report instead discussed a 1nm production target. Those labels mark different roadmap milestones, so Samsung’s official SF1.4 dates cannot be treated as confirmation of the reported 1nm date.

- [ Condensation-Proof & All-Day Protection] Nano-coated cooling plate prevents frost buildup, and intelligent temperature control safeguards your phone's battery from overheating damage.
Nor should a node label be read as a literal measurement of every transistor feature. The roadmap dates and designations cited here do not establish transistor dimensions, yields, customer commitments, performance, power use, cost, or commercial success.
What to take from the headline
The 2026 date is best understood as a claim reported in 2024 and attributed to Business Korea—not as a verified Samsung production date. Samsung’s official 2023 statement placed SF1.4 mass production in 2027, while later secondary coverage reported SF1.4 in 2029 and 1nm-class timing around 2030. All are schedule statements; the cited sources do not show that 1nm mass production has started.
