OutKick’s October 5, 2026 opinion article attributed this sentence to an October 1 employee memo from Hill: “Over the past year, we’ve put sport at the center of everything we do. The quoted wording refers to Nike’s focus on sport and acknowledges work ahead. It does not use “woke,” identify a political campaign, or say that a previous approach was a mistake. OutKick argued that the emphasis could be read as an implicit acknowledgment; it is commentary, not a direct confession or a statement Nike confirmed.

What has Nike said officially about its strategy?
In its official FY2027 first-quarter release, Nike President and CEO Elliott Hill said the company’s “Sport Offense” was driving progress in its performance business. How strong were Nike’s recent business results?

Did Nike stock really hit a 12-year low?
OutKick reported that NIKE shares closed at $33.87 on October 2, 2026, and described that close as the lowest in more than 12 years. The specific closing price and historical comparison have not been independently verified against primary market-price data here, so they should remain attributed to OutKick rather than stated as a confirmed record.
