Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection is available on Nintendo Switch 2, but it requires an internet connection and a Battle.net account. Nintendo advertises cross-progression and cross-play; its Australian listing says an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to enable cross-play. Cross-progression and Nintendo’s Save Data Cloud are separate features.
What’s included in the Switch 2 edition?
Nintendo lists Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection, a bundle containing the base game, Vessel of Hatred, and Lord of Hatred. Nintendo’s US announcement gave a September 16, 2026 availability date and a regular US price of $69.99. That is a dated US listing, not a current worldwide price; check your regional eShop for the edition, price, and availability where you live.

Does Diablo IV on Switch 2 work offline?
No offline campaign option is stated in the Nintendo listings reviewed. Nintendo UK says a persistent internet connection is required to play, and Nintendo Australia says an internet connection and Battle.net account are required. Treat the Switch 2 version as online-only in practice.

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online?
Nintendo Australia explicitly says an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required to enable cross-play. Nintendo UK also says paid membership is required for online play modes. Because storefront wording and membership notices are regional, check the listing for your territory for the condition that applies to your intended online play.
Nintendo Australia separately lists Save Data Cloud and says a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use that Nintendo service. This is not the same thing as Diablo IV cross-progression: the product listing describes cross-progression as a game feature, while Save Data Cloud is Nintendo’s separate service.

How cross-progression differs from cross-play
Cross-progression: continuing progress across platforms
Nintendo advertises “full cross-progression,” which means the listing promotes progress continuity across supported platforms. It does not itemize exactly which account data, purchases, currencies, or entitlements synchronize, nor does it provide current linking steps. Do not assume that every purchase or item transfers based only on the general feature label.
Cross-play: playing with people on other platforms
Cross-play is multiplayer with players on other platforms. Nintendo advertises it for the Switch 2 collection; its Australian listing attaches an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription requirement to enabling it. Cross-play is distinct from carrying a character’s progress between platforms.

Players, storage, and regional listing differences
Nintendo Australia lists one to two local players and one to four online players. It says each multiplayer player needs one compatible controller; additional controllers may be sold separately.
Store specifications differ by region: Nintendo UK lists a September 15, 2026 release date and a 69.4 GB download, while Nintendo Australia lists September 16 and 71.4 GB. The listings do not explain the differences. Check your local eShop for the date and storage figure shown for your region, and leave enough space for the listed download.
What to check before choosing Switch 2
- Connection: You need internet access during play, so consider whether your usual handheld or TV setup has a reliable connection.
- Online multiplayer: Check your regional Nintendo listing for the Nintendo Switch Online condition if you want cross-play.
- Existing character: If you already play on another supported platform, Nintendo advertises cross-progression, but its listing does not detail every synchronized entitlement or account step.
- Bundle and storage: Verify the local edition contents, price, and download size in the eShop before buying or installing.
These storefront details establish advertised features and requirements; they do not establish platform-by-platform performance or guarantee that every entitlement carries over.
