Yes. A community mod called D2R VR brings Diablo II: Resurrected into PC VR with several camera views, including a first-person mode. It targets the 2021 remaster, not the original 2000 game. It is not an official Blizzard release, it is limited to offline single-player, and its first-person view is a labeled preview rather than a finished way to play.
What D2R VR is
D2R VR is a free, MIT-licensed community mod hosted on GitHub under the account natpoh. Its README says the project is not made, endorsed or supported by Blizzard. The mod depends on the 3D assets in Diablo II: Resurrected, so the remaster is the required base game. Notebookcheck, reporting on October 8, 2026, notes that the remaster launched in 2021 and is needed to run the mod. The original Diablo II is not the target.
The four views
The README describes four ways to view the game. They differ in camera position and in how much your body and controllers are involved.
| View | What it does | Maturity, per the project |
|---|---|---|
| Stereo isometric | Keeps the original camera angle, rendered in stereo so each eye gets its own perspective. | Not stated in the README |
| Third person | Places a free camera behind the character and follows where your head points. | Not stated in the README |
| Diorama | Sets the game world on the floor so you can look down at it and move around it at room scale. | Not stated in the README |
| First person | Attaches the character’s arms and weapons to your VR controllers. | Labeled an early preview with weapon-calibration problems |
Independent coverage from VR.org, dated October 6, 2026, describes the same four views and their setup, and it repeats the first-person caveat.
#1 Best Overall
- Diablo II: Resurrected breathes new life into Blizzard Entertainment’s acclaimed ARPG and its expansion, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, from beginning to end. Return to fight for Sanctuary and discover the fate of the mysterious Dark Wanderer rebuilt in all-new 3D graphics, brand-new cinematics, remastered audio… and the same classic Diablo II gameplay you remember.
First-person mode: the preview caveat
First person is the most striking mode, but the project is open about its limits. The README states: “F4 is an early look, not a finished way to play the game: the weapons are not calibrated yet, so how a weapon sits in the hands and where it aims may be off for many of them.” That is the project’s own warning. It is not independent testing, and it means that for many weapons the in-hand position and aim may not match what you expect.
Setup requirements
The README lists one tested combination. Use it as the reference point, and check the live README before installing, because the project is actively changing.
Rank #2
- Game build: Diablo II: Resurrected build 3.3.93787, the documented tested version.
- Loader: D2RLoader 1.3.1, the documented pair for that build.
- ReShade: with add-on support enabled, and the Generic Depth add-on enabled.
- Headset path: BodyWalk with FlatVR, plus the D2R Bridge plugin.
- Hardware: a PC VR headset for the headset experience. The mod can also run flat on a monitor.
The README says other game builds need their memory addresses checked before the mod will work. Do not assume a newer patch is supported just because the game launches.

Settings the project asks you to change
These are the project’s settings for D2R VR, not general advice for Diablo II: Resurrected.
Rank #3
- Exclusive Red with Black Smoke Marble 2x LP Vinyl Record
- Turn off VSync.
- Turn off DLSS.
- Turn off TAA.
- Cap the frame rate at 180 frames per second, which is 90 per eye.
The README explains why: the mod alternates rendering between the two eyes, and temporal frame construction such as TAA can interfere with that stereo output.
Offline single-player only
The README states: “Offline single-player only. Injecting code into the game online can get the account banned.” The project does not support online use, and nothing in the documentation suggests that using it online is safe. Keep the mod to offline play.
Rank #4
- The Diablo Prime Evil Collection includes Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo III, the Reaper of Souls expansion which includes Act V, Adventure Mode and the Crusader class, and the Rise of the Necromancer pack, with the Necromancer class, and additional cosmetic items. This collection also includes the Mephisto pet and the fearsome wings, Hatred’s Grasp, for Diablo III.
Headsets and platform support
No specific headset model is confirmed as compatible in the sources reviewed. The mod’s companion tool, FlatVR, lists Windows 10/11 64-bit support on its vendor page, along with SteamVR, Virtual Desktop or an OpenXR runtime as options. That describes FlatVR, not D2R VR’s compatibility with every headset or runtime. Check each part of your setup against the current requirements before you install.
Cost
The mod itself is free. Its installer includes BodyWalk Lite at no charge if you do not already own BodyWalk. FlatVR’s official page describes its app as free and offers a paid Pro license for unlimited AI 3D depth. That page does not show that D2R VR needs the paid tier, because D2R VR describes its own stereo rendering. Whether the free tools cover every headset feature D2R VR uses is not established, so treat the total cost as unresolved until the project or vendor confirms it.
What is still unconfirmed
Players often ask whether they can play the whole game and how to start. The available evidence does not answer the first question fully. It does not confirm that every class, skill and area works reliably in VR, and no independent full playthrough is reported. A secondary report from iTechGuides, dated October 7, 2026, corroborates the features but notes that it did not verify the version and setup details or a full playthrough. For the second question, the setup steps above and the README are the starting point, and the README is the authority if it differs from this article.
In short: D2R VR is a real, free way to see Diablo II: Resurrected in VR, with a usable stereo view and a preview-stage first person. It is offline-only, depends on a specific build and loader, and has open questions about full-game coverage and the cost of its companion tools.
